Announcing: Stag Arms Stag-10 CDN Rifle - 6.5CM - Non-Restricted Canada

Ya...good luck selling em lol. I just listed some stuff. I'm gonna keep some bcl stuff and move expensive parts to the stag. Good thing it's only money. Maybe I'll give a receiver set away to get another gunny into unrestricted black guns lol

Fantastic idea! I have three sons (and a brand new son-in-law), and a few daughters who like to shoot and hunt... spread the love.

Order in 22" 6.5 Creedmore. Was going to go with a receiver set but I'm new to this Black stuff so I think I will go complete for now and build another at some point.

I was going to go 308 but I love the idea of 6.5 Creedmore in Southern Ontario. Because the bullet is less then .275 you can use it for coyotes around where I am. Plus Deer and Bear. One rifle for all my needs! This should fit the bill well.

Nemo makes a stretched AR10 for belted magnums. Including 458 WM. But they are restricted; maybe a modified AR10 platform goes back to being an AR15 variant, depending on it's lineage? Perhaps a stretched Stag would remain non-restricted...

6.5 creedmoor enough for bear?

6.5 creedmoor enough for bear?

This can easily become a religious fight, simply by re-framing the question as "6.5x55 enough for bear ?"

Since I'm only part Scandie and don't need to uphold the refrain of "it can down bears, deer and moose", I'll just say "yeah, with good shot placement".

So does Noreen: the Bad News. It's only $6k US. But I don't know if it's NR. You can get a nice 50 BMG for that price... Different application, I suppose. I think it's dumb that firearms that are entirely incompatible with a mil-spec AR15 are designated AR variants. But I digress. Back to the show: Stag's excellent and well-priced NR black rifle!

I shot a black bear at 300 yards with a 6.5
Took it through the lungs and it ran 30 yards and started to slow. Put a follow up shot in the neck to pile it up. Probably would have only made it 20 yards more, but when they are moving downhill I don't mind stopping them asap. Every yard I have to pack them less is worth it. Was a 123sst hornady. Lungs were toast inside

This makes sense, the 6.5 barrels are already beyond 18.5" in length.

I note that Fulton Armory carries 18.5 inch barrels in 308 for AR10, the barrels are made by Criterion, just like for the M14/M1A. Fulton has said many times that 18.5 is a sweet spot for 308 in their opinion.

It would be impolite of me to link here where you can find a Canadian "source". My worry is that 18.5 may be too short, and they do not post length in "mm".

My take has been to order a 20" Faxon pencil for now. It should be adequate accuracy for my needs, and it weighs very little. I know of at least 2 different means to get that barrel in Canada.

Honestly, my hope that Arms East gets Stag (Ballistic Advantage?) to expedite 18.6" barrels. BA barrels are always seen as "great value for money".

I prefer an 18.5 or 19" barrel in a semi auto .308. It's not the same platform but I have extensive experience with the .308/.762 rounds from the M14/M1A and bolt guns in 16 " to 26" barrels and I'll take those calibers in an 18.5" all day long and shoot a 150gr or 160-ish gr bullet at hunting distance of up to 300 yards on black bear/deer/moose/elk with absolute real world confidence.

for the 7-08 , same deal but maybe prefer a 19 or 20" ..... for .338 federal , again, an 18.5 or 19" barrel is about perfect, making these perfect 300 yard and under hunting rifles.
Can't wait to touch n feel and get building :D
