Annual NB moose draw thread. Winners & losers post here.

Congrats SC - I remember when you posted 4 years ago. Glad you didn't have to wait so long this time.

I didn't get mine but I've only been applying since 2007. Kinda starts to discourage us young guys from pursuing it after a while. I may start to save up and start looking at going to Newfoundland. Hard pill to swallow to only get 3 days to try and get a moose.

Good stuff! What are you packing this time?

I'd run that carbine, just cuz.
I was going to use my 375CT but that 760 308 Carbine is a better idea. It was my grandfather's moose rifle late in his life. Neither him nor I have ever killed a moose with it.

I've got a box of 180gr Partitions here just for the task. :)

Yes we do have a priority draw system here now but it sill does not mean you will get drawn in the top group. Record of how many times you have been applying didn't start till 1994 so technically in the eyes if the goverment nobody has been trying with no luck longer than 18 years. there is another tier starting soon as the this pool grows. Here are some draw stats. As you can see the top tier still only has a little under 40% chance of being drawn.

Overall Draw Stats By Priority Group

You're gonna use a trombone gun????!!!!
I here by's bans yous frum a huntin' here in da west evers agi'n.
Bolt guns before dishonors!
:pirate:

On another note, that would be cool to use your Grandpa's gun to kill a moose. Lots of pics with you dressed like a pilon would be great.

Soo, you cant hunt local due to the Draw, so it is better to travel an buy a tag in NL?

It seems so unfair, but i guess there is a method to the madness.

I'm pretty much weaned off pump rifles for most hunting, but this one has never killed a moose and will be given to a younger brother in Ontario later in the fall. He has a couple sons who want to hunt and the moose camp went to him in N. Ontario, so it's fitting this rifle goes to him too. I have to try to get my moose with it first. :)

..... and yes, orange is manitory here in NB. I don't mind it.

I got one for Zone 23.

That's pretty good. Only had to wait 4 yrs from the last tag and 20 from the one before. :)

Congrats supercub . Nice to see. I have been putting in since the start with 5 other guys in NS for like 28 years and not one of us ever got a tag. Some guys are on their third. We need a form of priority system here big time to make it fair.
We also put in for the NB non resident hunt and nothing there either.
Have hunted them however twice in NL and twice in Ontario taking two bulls and a cow so all is good. take care
