Hey.

I own a 92 Inox Im trying to sell... had a few bites but seems like the finish wear is driving people away.

SO.

My question is, is there anywhere (sponsors here) that do anodizing? I believe thats what the frame was originally 'coated' in, and would like to bring it back to stock shape.

I've contacted a few places that I thought might do it, and Nada... Id be even up for sending the frame over the border to get it fixed.

Please help a brotha out.

TY

Luke

"...sending the frame over the border..." Buckets of paperwork.
You can do it yourself without spending a pile of money of equipment. However, whatever you're asking for it may be an issue too.

650 for an Inox with slight defect where as the gun goes for what... 8-850?

But I hear ya

Yeah I want to return the gun to tip top shape before I try selling it again. I dont mind paying for it if it means that somebody will buy it.

Ive never done it nor do I know what it would require. Im still trying to find a local/In Canada smiths that wouldnt mind tackling it though.

If you drop your asking price by your quote to anodize/refinish you will be further ahead. Let the next owner live with it or fix it, and the number of prospective buyers will double. If you figure only a little area requires re-anodizing and it should not cost much, you are right. It will be anodized, and properly so, but chances are the colour will not match, and you will be let down. Strip it, re-anodize the whole frame, and you will want to keep it. Crazy world it is... enjoy the process.

First off, to do a pistol frame it would have to go to an anodiser that has permits for restricted firearms. Most anodisers do not have that and won't touch it. Hard anodising (there is a differance) isn't something you do in the kitchen sink. Most of the anodising you can do at home you can scratch off with you're thumbnail. You would be best as someone said drop your price to reflect the finish, because to have someone do it would be costly enough that there is no way you would get your mpney out of it. All of the anodisers I use have a minimum charge by weight. Ours charge $120 minimum. I can do 1 ar15 lower for that or I can do 3. The price is the same.

Hm... So let me get this right

Anodizing cost... roughly 120$... plus shipping etc.

Cost of an inox~900. Lowered because its used... to 650... that's 250$ cheaper then new. Nobody wants to buy it and you're telling me that lowering the price makes sense? Maybe in the perfect world, but not on the cheap world of fire-arms it seems heh.

I'll keep looking, get it done right, and then try to sell again.Even if it costs me 120 and I sell it for 800ish then it'd be worth it, rather then lower the gun to what... 200$? If I can't sell it at 2/3 of the value I dont hold high hopes for selling it.

@Dogzilla... mind sharing who?

Hi. A BNIB INOX runs $1,030.00, here. Doubt you'd get $800 for a used one. You won't get that $120 refinishing cost back either.
Epp's is asking $675.00 for a used 92 Brigadier with a slightly damaged front site.
Can you post a small picture?

Gamer###, read your PMs. Like hicaliber says. For the rest of you, look at the EE for pistols and view his gun to see what he's talking about. No anodizing required, it's not black.

Alberta Tactical Rifle makes AR15 lowers and sends them out for anodizing. He's a member here, ask him who he uses.
