another 6.5x55 mauser question?

Since most pundits put min. killing energy at 1000 ft lbs. Using a 140gr BT bullet you would be good for just over 500m with a 2700 fps muzzle velocity. YMMV.
My longest shot on a WT was just over 300m. Bangflop.

I shot a moose with my M700 Classic in 6.5x55 and the 140 Partition at 410 yards. One shot kill. The moose turned 90º after the shot, and then just tipped over. Double lunged and the bullet exited with a looney sized hole, taking part of a rib out on entry and exit. No issues at all. Eagleye.

The whole killing energy needs so man ft/lb is flawed I would not go by that at all.
You probably could kill a moose at 500y but that's only theory, in practical terms you can only kill what you can hit.
for most guys myself included 200m off-hand. 300 you'll need a rest and after that the odds are stacking up against you ie. wind drift, animal moving as you pull the trigger, small target etc.
Keep your shots sensible and your 6.5 will do fine
