Another 6.5X55...

I have been a die hard 6.5 fan all my life, my biggest problem is no one makes one left handed and it's really hard to find a left hand action, I have had 6
M38 some original some sportized all shot about 1 inch groups with sierra game king 140gr boat tails. One moose 1134lbs dressed at 283yds the moose went 41 yds and dropped, put the rifle away and out came a 40oz of OFC

I spoke with a retailer a few days ago and found out that there are 5 (five) Tikka 6.5x55 left-hands in Canada as we speak. I listened as Diane from P& D in Edmonton ordered a Tikka 6.5x55 over the phone, and it was a lefty. Do you know of any other brands in right hand?

I have a lefty Ruger that I am considering truning into a 6.5x55. I have a M96/38 that my father gave me, and I also have a target rigle built around the 260 Rem.

Sauer 6.5x55

I bought a Sauer 200 LH in 6.5x55 fifteen years ago which shoots like a dream. It's a take down rifle on which you can easily switch barrels for other calibres in that general range and size (.243, .308, .270, 30-06). It shoots all loads very accurately.
The bolt locks into the barrel, a system which Remington introduced in its Model 710 a few years ago.

AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry Da Moose, I just couldn't help but laugh uproariously reading a Sauer compared to a Rem 710 in the same post....

6.5X55 is a sweetheart for sure.

Like 6.5x55swm, I have no desire to own a T3. That plastic wonder turns me off, regardless of accuracy claims from many who own them. [FWIW, I have worked with two Tikkas that would not shoot anything well, but that is not common] I have two 6.5x55's in Commercial rifles, a 700 Classic and a Ruger 77Mk II. Both are very good shooters, and both are nice rifles to look at. I also have a 6.5x55 Ackley Improved on a 721 Remington action with a Lothar-Walther barrel. It is a truly accurate rifle and adds about 125 fps to the already great 6.5x55 in stock trim. There is no non-dangerous game that I would not take on with the 6.5x55 with the right load. I have taken deer right out to 400+ yards and shot one moose at 300+ all were one-shot kills.
Took a good Bull Elk at 175 yards, 140 Partition, slightly quartering away, and he went about 40 feet after the shot and piled up. I am very impressed with the 6.5x55, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a mild-kicking rifle that is infinitly effective. Regards, Eagleye

The Rifle arrived today. I was a little apprehensive about the synthetic-ness of it due to so many "tupperware" comments on CGN. I should not have been... Nice rifle, feels solid and the action is smooth! It is finished very well and we'll see once I get some rings on this baby if it shoots as well as my Ruger. I know it wont shoot as well as my Mauser, but that one is rather exceptional.

Have you put that recently acquired Swede sporter thru it's paces yet? Just wondering how she shoots? ;)

Not yet, I'm in the middle of a divorce, new GF, moving, job, and, I just got screwed out of my hunting trip, but I'll keep you posted after I manage to get my new Swede to the range. :D

Is your new GF a swede? :bigHug:

Pics in the "Girls with guns" thread please!!:D:D:popCorn:

Ok, range report. Took her to sight in yesterday. Shooting 140 grain Hornady SST's over 46 grains of H4831sc. I did not chrony the load but shot well under and inch. The rifle is very accurate. My daughter loves shooting them "bullseyes" with it and keeps saying "It doesn't hurt!". She's 13 years old and weighs less than 90 pounds...

Been there, done that, [about 10 years ago]... don't envy you in the least... takes awhile to get things on the even keel again... hey, if you want someone to babysit that Swede in the interim, I'm your man... :D
