My new to me Arisaka type 99 just arrived in the mail today. I bought it from the EE, a restored sporter, already have a type 38 so i had to get a type 99 as well
The fellow nutz from who i bought it did a very good job putting it back to original condition. Its an early production with the chrome plated bore, anti aicraft sight and and mono pod wich is missing on the rifle. At some point, bubba put some black paint on the trigger guard and upper tang but after disassembling the rifle,i removed the paint with paint stripper and very fine steel wool. The type 99 feel very well in hands, light and shoulder fast. The chrome bore is very good and the overall quality is also very good with a smooth action. Now i am wondering if i get a monopod(repro or original) or if i leave the rifle without.

painted parts by bubba when the rifle was sporterized(not by the seller)

Look great now without the ugly paint.

Type 38 and the type 99 make a nice team.
