I went to my local dealer this week and finally plunked down some money to buy my first pistol in 16 years
. It's just a Ruger MK III Standard .22LR with 4.75" barrel, but I'm super excited to get out there and do some shooting again. I've been thinking of buying a new handgun for months now, but never pulled the trigger wondering what to buy. 9mm, .22, .45??? Glock, SAM, Ruger, etc etc etc. I finally decided it would be a .22 to start so I could afford to shoot a fair bit and get my skills back up. Then last weekend a friend I shoot skeet with invited me out to shoot some pistols. He had a Colt Woodsman, Browning Challenger and a Glock 17. All of them were fun and I managed to make some decent groups on paper. Considering I hadn't touched a pistol in 16 years. That really lit the fire and I checked my dealers website and a lightly used MK III for a smoking price was on there waiting for me. Now waiting for the transfer and all that hoop jumping to be done so I can go plink some cans.
