sneaking in to a gulley thru farm land in the fog an got near the bush edge, noticed a bloody dog sneakin in to a calf an cow!
i popped over the rocky outcrop just to see if anyt deer were present.... thats when i seen him.

i got on a rock an waited for it to present out of the dip in the land,..... as he did.. 180gr BTSP .30-06 hit home, he spin a few times a yelping as i got his front leg, an in doing so i sent another in the body...... fixed him anyway.

have him on trail camera the past 2 years. unable to catch up to him but the temptation of fresh calfs an what not was too much...

30 meters maybe 40m i killed him at!!!

$120 bounty

Nice cows :) Happy you got there before the calf was hurt.

Unless Australian cows are different, a lone dog has little chance. I've seen cows chasing bears and go nose to nose with wolves. The harassment is the issue.

Dogs love eating Milk Sh*t.

Oh yeah? Cool, didn't know that. Never was around cows enough to see them have to contend with a mutt like that. Or those other predators!

We had a old cow, when she had a new calf, she was one you stayed away from, many times she was almost hamburger, but always raised great calves, so put up with her.
She was leader of the crew when moving the herd
I have a sister & BIL that are big into the cow/milk business in NZ, since the 1970's
They where just up for a visit, picked up a touch of covid on the plane, or? was not too bad, Sister was not really sick

So would that be considered a dingo, a feral dog, or something else?

it is what we Call a Wild Dog, or Cross Bred Dingo.
they have been tested int he past few years and quite alot had the "dingo" gene in them,

the more golden Pure Bred Dingos you guys would be familiar with are few an far between, but do come in a range of colours... black .

this is mostly what they come in for.

i noted alot of prints coming in under a fence, so its been gettin in there alot. what i witnessed was the dog sneaking in to the cow an calf, close enough ( 20m ) for the cow to turn an face the dog, it was a very fresh calf here so not sure what may of happened had i not fed him some 180grainers :)
