Hmmm?? Piece and quiet... Outdoors.

I am a survivor, no one knows what I have been through... and I don't care to share.. but I know now, I can survive !

All that is missing is the disco ball and Gloria Gainor:D

All kidding aside, I also did a survival course in the cadets and also enjoyed winter camping in college.

My first reaction to this poll was somehwat like mommabear's comment: Hmmmmm? Peace and quiet? That is what it felt like being left in the woods to make your shelter etc, etc. A rather zen experience. The kind that you do not want to leave.

But then there's the food issue over a prolonged period of time and most importantly why you're lost or left out in the woods (ex. like the previous comment you might have slipped into a creek...then broken a leg, are far from your gear, cannot move, then die from your injuries and hypothermia, etc...).

Lol! Gloria Gainor, indeed!

The Hunter safety course I just took, covers all the surviving technics. Which is cool... Motto.. "Be Prepared" !

I'd like to believe months.
Depending on the circumstances, though:
Am I injured?
If there's enough food to last me a day or two and have time to set-up.
Are there animals around? Plenty?
Don't forget those times when we were hunting and didn't see nothing..... I mean nothing at all.

Adition to this would be : do I know or not how to smoke meat? Or dry it?
Is searching for a way out an option ? This can play havoc on one's plans of survival.

LAst but certainly not the least : is there hope to ever be found?
No more women?? forever... is it worth it?

if you didn't find the answer to this in short time after the " cast away" ... chances are depression would get you insane.

I would stay and not call it lost, I would call it lucky!

x2 lol

If you can build and sustain a heat source and have a supply of water handy, then survival is unlimited really.

I don't know about you fellas, but I have enough around my waist to survive for a month or two before I have to chew on a spruce tree.:D

Well considering where I live ... in summertime, I think I could last a couple of weeks ... MAYBE as I usually go outland prepared with food, shelter(tent), rifles/ammo(plural), fuel, coman stove, sleeping bag, etc ... all the gear needed to survive outland ... plus a GPS with all the cabins on it in the surrounding area. Now during winter, I've NEVER gone outland alone so I don't know ... and have always brought serious amounts of gear to survive if stuck in a storm, broke down snowmobile, whatever ... however with my experience I would give it day ... 2 if I was lucky ... I've been in a blizzard coming home from hunting ... luckily for me, my hunting pal was an experience one who made sure we were both visible to one another on the ride home .. it definately made the heart pump! Cheers my fellow CGNer's and may you never get stuck/lost out in the bush/outland,

Otokiak ...

It would make an interesting experiment. Maybe the next time I go hunting for a month I'll wonder away from base camp for a few days ans see how it goes.
