Well we lost another! My father has passed away. Dad was an avid deer hunter. He deer hunted at our camp since 1958 He hunted moose and bear too. But whitetails were always his favourate! Don't know how many he got over the years. But It was pretty high up there. We always had venison. Sucks to lose my oldest hunting buddy! Anyway I don't mean to ramble. If you get a chance over the weekend. Raise your glass to another fallen hunter!

Dave.

Already did.

I feel you, lost my dad just before Christmas, was the first deer season he ever missed this year, it does get better but never the same.

Dave .that is just terrible news..im sorry ive neaver got to meet your dad.:( .prayers and thoughts go out to you and family..
i will for sure raise a few in his honor..

I hope time will heal all and you'll be left with good memories, someday we'll all meet up there and have a good hunt or two.

A few words by Mary Frye, may they bring you comfort in your loss:

Do Not Stand At My Grave

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

Mary Frye

Loosing Your Father

Sorry for your loss triton. Must have been a great guy. Hope your mother is well?

Think about the great times, and remember the funny things that happened during your time together.

My dad died February 12th 1996 and buried him on Valentines day. I lost my mother when I was 14.

I think hunters, are much closer to their hunting fathers, than other families. Hunting is a very close relationship. Even the un-related guys in camp, quickly become family. It hurts twice as bad, when one of the family falls.
I went through it just a few short years ago myself.
He will always be with you, especially when you pick up your rifle, and head out to hunt. Take care.
