Took mine out today....I am very happy with it....So far I have shimmed the gas system and replaced the op rod guide and spring....I shot from about 50 yds( I set the targets up at what I think was 50yds).....The first target was to sight in the irons...The first group hit lower right....You can see my groups getting closer to the center as I adjusted up and left...I went up too far and adjusted down till I finally got a good group in the bullseye....

I used this surplus ammo I bought from last year's Kamloops gunshow for $10/box.....

For the next target I switched over to the Norinco.308....You can see the POI had changed with different ammo but still had good groups...Check out the hole on the left..It looks like this round tumbled and hit sideways...It was only one round that did that..

I shot about 3/4s of the rounds kneeling(supported) and the other 1/4 standing(unsupported)....I took my time without any pressure.....Overall I am very happy with its performance..I need to take it out to 100yds next time out....But for a short barelled battle rifle I'm happy with how it performed...There were 0 FTFs and 0 FTEs....

Well you certainly shoot better with that m305 kneeling at 50yards compared to me with a 30-30 lever gun at the same distance. I think my best 5 shot group kneeling was 4 inches out of 160 rounds.

I guess I should of explained that I was kneeling behind an old washing machine and using it as a rest:redface:.....However my shots standing were unsupported;)......Thread edited to say this

You know, I practice a lot doing 25 and 50 yard kneeling shots. I find that about half of my hunting encounters happen when I'm driving to the area I like to 'spot and stalk'. What I do is set up two targets down a dead end logging road, have my rifle where I usually put it in my truck and practice getting out slowly, loading the gun, and firing off 3 rounds at 50 yards. I do this over and over and over again.

Another one that I do is set up targets at 25 yards and practice my quick shots. I have one in the chamber, with the safety on, and then I slowly drop to my knee and fire off a few rounds.

It's good practice and a lot of fun. The reason I'm boring you with this is because your targets look a lot like mine at 50 yards, but I use a sharpie marker on every group so I can keep using the same target. It also gives my gun a few minutes to cool down in the breeze between rounds. I do this about 1-2 times per month, which keeps me reloading constantly and gives me something to do at night now that the sun is out until 8:30pm

Sounds like good practice and alot of fun....I did go check my target after firing 5 rounds at a time for the first target...You can kind of see my 5 round groups as I adjusted my sights:DNext time I will circle my groups so I can see them better...

I think that ZV 1970 ammunition may have corrosive priming; might be an idea to give your rifle a good cleaning.

I figured it was corrosive so I cleaned it very good as soon as I got home...I was happy with how it grouped...Good stuff for $10/box...Thanks for the warning...

To the OP, where's a good spot to shoot in Westbank? I'm out here for school a few days/week and have been thinking of bringing my M14 and .22 out with me to get in some after school shooting...
