Be careful guys.

I got a phone call from one of our Hunt camp guys brothers this morning.

"Hello, I'm ______ ________ I'm _______'s brother.

I'm thinking oh ####, what's happened.
Turns out it was one of the guys wives. She was driving to work, and flipped her GMC Jimmy. Fatal.
They don't have a lot of snow on the ground, but the road had some slush. She is one of these ultra careful drivers.

Watch yourselves eh?
Make this the last funeral I'm going to this year.

Just makes you stop and think how short this life we live truely is and that any one of us can go, just like that.. in a blink of an eye, totally unexpected.

My condolences

We are sometimes are so involved in our own little lives where life's problems which are perceived as "important" are really mundane and silly compared to someone dear to us passing on unexpectedly. Unfortunately it's in moments like these of great sadness, where we see the true importance of life, friends and family.

Please express my condolences to your friend and his family.

Condolences to her family. Driving is something we all take for granted, but it can be very dangerous.

Sincerely
Jay

Being the Fire Chief here in Marathon, and responding to MVC's on a 100 km stretch of the TransCanada Highway, I've seen and been to more than my share.
The math from 2007 shows that fully 80% of our calls were on the highway. Of those a little under half of them needed us to rope down to the accident scene, due to the topography along the shore of Lake Superior.

On the 23rd of Demeber I lost a 2005 triple combination rescue pumper, when it rolled 6 times down an embankment, then off a 30 shear rock face, while responding to a MVC, in crap weather. All 4 occupants walked away with stitches and bruises, due to the trucks roll cage and the wearing of seat belts.

Please for gods sake, slow down out there, I really don't want to meet any of you on a professional basis, for the first time.

Ricky
