Just recently had another one done Savage 170 pump 30-30. Sorry but I do not have the before pic, thought that I did. Stocks sanded and crack repaired on the forend wood KG stockkote and then Varathane. Original open sights removed, screw holes plugged, dovetail insert bar installed from rear sight removal. KPhos applied and 4 coats light grey KG GunKote. Baked oiled and reassembled.

It's decent stuff. Says it's good for other applications as well. Works on metal that can't be hot baked, also synthetic stocks, rubber, etc. The Gunote seems to be holding up really well on the moving parts like the slide arms too. Racked the crap out of the Savage and slide shows no wear at all. Hoping it stays that way.

I decided to take mine to a shop for the work instead of tackling in myself. I'm great at taking stuff apart but not so good at putting them back together. Good luck with your job!
