How early is too early?? Going to the Sharon match this coming Saturday and I'm in the first squad and it says we start at 9am. How early should I get to the club? Is 7am too early?
Yup, in most cases, 30 minutes early is fine. If you are shooting first squad, than being even earlier is OK, especially if the stages still need some bodies to paint steel and hang targets. Shooting a later squad, it rarely is an advantage and often a PITA if you are early.
If the previous squad is on the range, hang back until they are done. Too many extra bodies tends to slow down patching and scoring.
I prefer about an hour early. Gives you lots of time to get ready, and if the match is running ahead, like the last Waterloo match, you can be ready to shoot early.
It all depends on Level of the match.
If you like to be early and have a chat with organizers and maybe help, come couple hours earlier, however for some that is not good. They start burning them self. To much time makes them think to much about stages and different ways to solve it. Coming just on time, like 30-15min but ready is a good option for me.
I remember arriving early, and volunteering to paint the steel. After a half hour of pressing down with my trigger finger, I found that I shot the first stage like crap, because I couldn't feel the trigger.
