I figure this one should get a lot of attention. I will be blunt about it though, this issue was a small one that could have been easily corrected by myself but instead was made worse due to a bad decision on my part.
Regardless, here we go. I bought a brand new sub 2k gen 2 (with the improved front post sight) from calgary shooting centre the day before I moved to brooks (Feb 17th of this year) for a new job and soon after that I got a membership to the rifle range just outside of town. I brought it there one day to take the first shots with it on a bench rest to see how accurate it would be. Well, it was hitting (roughly) 8-10 inches to the left at 25 yards. I followed the non-updated owners manual on how to adjust for windage to see how much it would help. After adjusting quite a bit to compensate the post was nearly maxed out to move bullet impact to the right and it still only managed to bring the impact 3-4 inches to the left still. I put it away, shot some .22 and then packed up and went home.
Upon further inspection I noticed that the front sight was actually ever so slightly tilted to the left as if it were not threaded on to the barrel square to the gun itself. So after a futile attempt to get help from Kel-tec and Vault out of BC (they are the main distributors of kel-tec in Canada I'm told) I decided to attempt to square everything up. After I removed the thread protector and loosened the capture nut for the front sight I figured I'd go ahead and remove the whole front sight off the barrel itself. That was the mistake. Now when I thread the front sight on it gets snug about 1/3 of a turn past where it should be and any attempt to tighten the capture nut while still holding the sight as vertical as possible is futile as well because when I go to snug it down, the front sight is so loose that it turns with the capture nut. The only solution to this problem that I can come up with would be to put some loc-tite on with the front sight and set it square with the rest of the gun, let it dry, then attempt to tighten the capture nut without moving the sight itself.
I was really hoping to not run in to an issue with the sight on the supposedly improved version of this gun so any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
