Maybe it was NL-Hunter's thread which inspired me. Anyways, I found this one recently from a fine fellow (in Newfoundland too - apparently that province is quite a source of old carbines!) who accepted to sell it to me. :)

Lee Metford Carbine Mk1, missing cleaning rod, but everything else seems correct. Never thought I'd add this to my collection, but here I am...

Geez..it's raining (snowing) Metford carbines. Very nice scores for both you and NL-Hunter. They say good things come in threes. If so, there's another one of these lurking out there somewhere...

Wow man, that is a nice rifle. Im always amazed when these come up unsporterized. Thats a nice find. It has the nose cap and all( i made 30 of them so im a little obsessed with the nose caps)

I love the LEC and LMC rifles way to much. One(my wife) may even say i have a problem

Id trade one of my lungs for that if you ever find your self needed a lung transplant

Very nice catch Lou. And the D- ring is still intact! A rare find these days.
Is there any info on the regimental disc?
I have a sister carbine that was issued to Royal Canadian Artillery in Gananoque, Ont.
Send me PM if you would like to compare serial #s.
Congrats

Beautiful thing it is.Knowing me I would look for the source of Linotype to shoot it as WW alloy lead would be too soft for Metford rifling.

Then again I have cool PB mold in that caliber and with short barrel like this they would really shine :)

Sadly the disc is blank - it would have been great if it had something stamped on it!

Not sure if I will get to shoot it - but it would be great to at least see what she is capable of. :)

Very nice specimen. D ring intact and all. Noticed no holes for leather sight protector. There are sure many variants. Maybe the disc was left blank to canadian issued versions?
