What would something like that cost to do?

Depends on how "exact" you want to be and how patient you are waiting for parts.

Expensive items are the wood $200 - $250 and (for me) the bolt head (complete @ $40). Then probably another $50 - $65 in misc items.

Almost forgot .... you need to find a rifle first. I was lucky, uncut barrel and matching numbers on bolt and receiver.

Plus your time to bring it all together.

Also not 100% about the money.

I like!! I now have two Savage No. 4 rifles, matching bolts and receivers, one actually even has a matching magazine, both uncut. Someday, I will have to get my butt in gear and do something with them. At least they are safe from any further molestation.

I've had the good fortune to restore a couple of Long Branch LE's and I love to see another one saved from ignominy. Kudos to you pal! I'm enclosing a couple of before and after pics of lovely 1942 Long Branch that I brought back. Though I still have the correct rear sight, it now wears a Parker Hale 5C target sight that I was fortunate enough to find. Enjoy!

All very nice looking rifles, I recently saved a matching bolt and receiver No4 Mk1* from bubba as well. She now wears a nice set of savage wood that I found and shoots just great. Enjoy them all and often!!!!
