Hello, Been lurking around for a bit now and now posting ;) Im almost as green as you could probobly get as using firearms go, I just passed my firearms saftey course and sent away my PAL and now anxiously awaiting my lisence. I used to go along with my brother and father when I was a kid deer and grouse hunting but never shot anything but my late fathers .22 rifle at targets back when I was a kid and of course my own pellet/BB guns as a teenager and now figure better late than ever but time to step up and learn to shoot and do some hunting and spend some fun days at the range. Right after this post I will be going to the hunting section and asking some opinions on firearms and ammo like im sure all newbies do but if anyone is willing to give some helpful experiences and advice and some good sites to go to for info on the sport I'm always willing to listen... Been looking around and think Ill be going with a Remington 700 XCR - 30.06 or maybe a 300 WSM, havent fully decided yet Leaning towards the 30 06 thinking it should be fun on the range redily accessable, cheaper and be able to take down a deer or elk or even a moose if needed as long as the shot is good... right?
Anyways through my almost 40 years on this planet I have realized it's always better to listen than to talk.. you learn more that way. See ya around!

Welcome PuffyG

Welcome to the forum fellow Albertan. Good luck with your license. Waiting can be brutal. Hint. Call every other day like I did, but be nice. This is a great forum and also a great place to by guns.
