Several months ago a friend of mine and VPD officer brought us an old Winchester Mod 70 long action he was wanting to turn into something a little more precise.Grens Vegter and I thought it would be a good project so we went at it in our spare time.
It started out life as a Winchester Model 70 L.A. in .300 WM.Apparently it shot ok for what it was but was definately not a tack driver.
We rebarreled it with a Rock 5R barrel. The trigger was adjusted and all the internals done.I redid the bolt handle because the finished gun was going to be BIG.The knob just wouldn't have matched. So it went from this
To this.
Then we added this. All custom based off of A.I. mags.
It was then bedded with the special titanium putty.
All assembled it was quite an impressive piece. We figured it needed an impressive paint job too.
We've been muching around with different stencils and such from Bulldog and figured we could probably put together a pretty decent multicam, since multicam is a good pattern and quite popular. So anyways here is the finished product.Hope you like.
(Yes we are pretty proud of this one)
The paint job was done with duracoat, all mixed and sprayed by me with GV's keen eye helping out.
The whole rifle was base coated and then stenciled. There are probably at least 4 coats total by the time we were done, and then I put on 3 coats of clear matte to seal it up.
Now he's gotta get out and shoot it!
