Another Norc M4 Initial Review

Ah, that's just a nylon strap in the pic I quickly tossed on there. Here's the one that was supplied...

M4Sling.jpg

I assume the HK clip goes on the front, and one of the spring steel clips snaps on the rear, but then I can't figure out what to do with the spring clip that's on the angled bar in the lower center of the pic. Is there a 3-Point Sling 101 class available somewhere?

I could be wrong but that looks like a two point patrol type sling. It looks like the two clips onto the sling points with the nylon going across the side with the loop portion forming a type of V. Hard to tell, I would have to play with that one but from my first look - I would hook it on that way - bottom left hook to front sling point and top left hook to back. That buckle in the bottom centre looks like the adjustment point with the outside portion going around the back of your neck and the inside portion running along the side of the rifle -- the top d-ring looks like the adjustment point to ensure that it is tight. Just my best guess...

Another Norc win...man I am a changed man. I will be a Gun snob for life but that is just a great low cost AR option! Can't argue on single bit.

The temperature threatened to rise above freezing today, so I took the M4 out to play. A couple of rounds were fired at 25m to get it on the paper, then a few at 50m and 75m to get it dialed in fairly close before sending 15 rounds downrange at 100m.

The first two groups aren't too bad for me. Aside from the lower left straggler both groups were well within 2"...

The third group wasn't any better, but with the sun full out and causing quite a bit of squinting I don't think it was too bad...

I would've shot more but I was concerned about getting a headache from the brightness so packed it in after this. Next time I'll take a hat and sunglasses, and hopefully won't have to trudge through deep snow either.

PMC 55gr FMJ was the round of choice today. Next time out I'll try some PMC SS109 and Ruag 63gr to see if there's much of a difference.

Oh, the trigger still sucks rocks. If I was going to get serious about shooting for group size I'd definitely get it smoothed out somehow.

Scope Choice

I just got my new Norinco, hope to try it out tomorrow. What would be a good choice for a scope that won't break the bank, but will do the job and stand up to a few year's use?
Thanks,
Geoff

Sorry guy's I think we should be buying made in Canada and stop sending our money over to china. We have dealers in Canada making this stuff support them and they will get on line faster and make more stuff available. Cheap is not the way to go and there not that much cheaper in my opinion. I have a Dlask and if in the market for a third I'd get a lower from Rick at ATRS or Dlask or Socom and I see Blueline has something as well. The more we support our local manufactures the more stuff they will stat making and eventually offer better pricing.
Lets get our economy going because the chines aren't going to help us out any time soon.
I too have had norcs but you get what you pay for and when your done tricking them out you still just have a cheap norc when you buy made in Canada you got a classic rig.
just my 2c.
PS Ive seen some of the stuff that these guy's are making and its good they just aren't advertising it very well so ask around.

You wrote "there" instead of "they're", thus your opinion is invalid! :p

Honestly, though... We've had this conversation a million times before and it always ends with "STFU". It's best not to poke the nest.

lol, can anyone scan in the manual, i'd love to read that. I remember a couple entertaining parts in the m14 manual.

Better to keep that off the internet, otherwise you can bet some asshat from the Coalition for Gun Control will be using it to whip our arse with.

F*cking give it up and stop running from those who fail to respect your freedoms and rights. The ownership of any and all firearms is enough "ammunition" for the retarded side of the population. A manual, a photo, a quote etc etc won't make a lick of difference.

That's a position that definitely applies to many aspects of Canadian consumerism.

And it, in my opinion, doesn't belong in this thread. Start a new thread about Chinese imports in the Off Topic section and I'll gladly participate.

you ever take notice whenever someone gives a review of a norinco, chicom whatever in which alot of us on here have been waiting for before buying... it always turns into a political thing .. WTF make up yr own thread how you hate china, you hate the world whatever.... but dont f@ck up someones review of a gun being from china or whatever..

Had the opportunity to inspect one of these the other day, field strip it, etc. If I were in the market for a carbine, I'd buy one.
Like so many Norincos, detail finishing leaves a bit to be desired, but so what? The ambi safety and mag. releases are bonuses.
I don't think that it is necessary to automatically accessorize any new purchase. Only thing I would do with one of these is detach the carry handle, and install an optic. A low powered scope would be appropriate, wouldn't have to be "tactical".

Like I said I was sorry but had to say something and it's only my opinion.
And I don't hate anyone I would like to see people here support our local manufacturers buy Canadian.
Ive started a thread so not to further ruin this one and I apologize.

Burris Timberline 2-7x and ex-high Burris tactical rings work quite well on mine. Light, bright and long eye relief so I can still stuff my stubby fingies around the charging handle.
