Another Norc M4 Initial Review

The fact is an AR15 of any make is a range gun only in Canada. As much as want to buy Canadian or American made stuff, I can't see myself paying $1500+ for something I can only use at the range. If I could hunt with it, it might be another story. If Marstar brings them in cheap I might buy one just to have one then.

I just got my Norinco CQ and the first thing it does when I charge it is have the retaining pin spring and retaining pin pop out, lodge in my rifle, and ruin themselves. Anyone elsehave this problem? Is it safe to shoot one of these rifles without a buffer retaining pin?

Weird. What caused that is the receiver extension not being screwed in far enough to catch the edge of the retainer. I wouldn't shoot an AR without a buffer retainer. Luckily it's a cheap part - are you sure they're ruined (I'm trying to think how those parts could be 'ruined' given that they're a tapered peg and a spring) Otherwise all you need to do is loosen the stock castle nut, insert the spring and pin and screw the receiver extension in until it holds the edge of the retainer in place, then screw the stock nut down. This isn't a common problem with norcs.

Thanks! That totaly fixed the problem. I was exaggerating a bit about the parts ruining themselves. The spring was deformed and the pin was battered. I'm glad to know it wasn't a problem with the gun itself.

I too have trouble with the justification of a $1500 range rifle......

That being said, you can normally find them for under $1000

Hey guys, what's a nice cheap scope that is good for the Norc M4. Well, just something that stays zero'd in. Also, any other parts that I need to mount it on the rail would help me a lot too!

Looking for something around 16x range.

I plan to shoot up to 300m. That is as far as my local rifle range can go.

Thanks!

Well if You are going to pay $1000 why not $1500 especially if the rifle comes with the life-time warranty?
Just saying.

1000 rounds of 5.56 is kinda hard to ignore. And last I heard getting warranty work work done meant having to send the rifle back to the US... with a very high probability of NOT being able to come back to Canada.

They are trialing a pre-order with the new M-14B rifles so the CQ5.56 is still sort of behind-the-scenes. I believe Marstar has essentially confirmed they are due June 2010, no price has been given. I'm hoping for $599 but realistically probably more like $699, which is still a smoking deal. If they're less than $599 I will buy five without hesitation.

Why is Marstars' website so hard to navigate----I can't seem to find a way to pre-order or even view info on the " M4 " :(

Hahaha... I agree... It's the biggest PIA site to navigate. They have so many cool things so I check it out once in a while but seriously, they should fix it.

A search function would help too.

That would be a one nice price indeed :)
