Well patience paid off and I am now the recipient of another set of shotguns that aren't twins but are darned close. I picked up a very good condition Perazzi MT6 after a couple years of looking and passing on a few rough examples to get to this one. This one started out life as none other than Susan Nattrass' back up gun for competing at the Olympics. Its the same year manufacture as my TMS(1977). It wear 29.5" barrels and included 8 first generation factory screw chokes. It came with two stocks, the original trap stock which the next owner, a friend of Miss Nattrass' cut and shaved down to fit him for ISSF skeet shooting. He fell on ill health and shortly before passing wanted a good shooting buddy to own the gun and give it a good home so the fellow bought it and had the stock seen on it in the pictures made to fit him in the UK by Bidwell Shooting Systems. He too is an ISSF shooter and decided recently to sell the gun. The gun came with it's original case, choke wrench, stock bolt wrench etc..
After a few calls to confirm the info on the gun and to a friend who serviced it last by whom I was assured it was in very good condition I pulled the trigger and purchased it. I now have my old school Perazzi trap pair. Thursday evening I tried it out on a round of doubles and when I did my part it absolutely crushed them and is a very soft shooting gun. As it is the current 50/50 pattern will take some getting used to or I may just add a Meadows Industries stick on comb pad to raise my POI to 60/40. The gun is lightning fast to swing and smooth as silk so I am catching the second target much quicker as it is still climbing so a little higher POI may be better than the 50/50 pattern. Time will tell. Here are a couple pics of the pair together. The MT6 is on bottom in the first pic and on left in the second. On another note I finally got to try out the TMS with the new PFS stock. All I can say is WOW! I wish I'd bought one years ago and I wish they made a grip to fit the MT6 so I could put a PFS on it!

That’s an awesome find Frank, congratulations!
I had the identical gun in an identical case several years ago, even though it was 30 years old at the time it looked as if it were brand new. It had plain wood as most of them do but there wasn’t a mark on it or the metal anywhere. The reason that I don’t still have it is that it shot almost a full pattern high and I could shoot singles with it quite well but not doubles. I had an adjustable comb installed but I still couldn’t get the pattern low enough to satisfy me so the gun went away. I replaced it with an older Mx8 32 inch full/full gun that I got as a project gun. I had to make a new stock for it and replace the worn out locking block but it’s a good gun now and will last me a life time given the amount of trap I shoot and my age….. The best part is that it shoots flat like a sporting gun so I’m not getting messed up switching from a high shooting gun to a flat gun when I switch from trap to sporting. These old Perazzi’s just run and run, then you put a few hundred bucks into a rebuild and they run and run for a few more years, they’re well worth the money!

Here is my Perazzi MT6 that has 29 1/2" barrels. I've had it for many years and as Falconflyer says it seems to be indestructible. I love the selective trigger---great for sporting clays. Also use it for both trap and skeet. It was the first Perazzi made with screw chokes and I have a bunch of them for all occasions. I had a riser added so I could adjust my point of aim.

Interesting guns, with a even more interesting story.

You hit the nail on the head sillymike, they are indeed interesting guns! There must be hundreds of various models and incarnations of Perazzi guns and they’re all based on the same Mx8 receiver with its Boss lockup which makes it possibly the strongest and longest lasting actions of all shotguns. There’s lots of documented cases of Perazzi guns running million of rounds. The highest one I’m aware of has over 3 million to date and from what I understand it’s still in use. US Olympic trap champion Kim Rhodes reportedly had over 2 million rounds through her Mx2000 when it was stolen out of her car. Like any mechanical device they can and do break but the ease of repairing them and availability of parts has contributed greatly to the success.

Here is a 1968 Perazzi Comp 1 that preceeded the MX8 by a few years. It has beautiful case colours and some scroll engraving. It has many of the features of the MX8 including the drop out trigger. I've had it for over 40 years and years ago had Briley install choke tubes and 20, 28 and 410 skeet tubes. It can be used as an upland bird gun or for shooting clays. It's a real keeper.

You have quite the collection of Perazzi's Bill! Beautiful!

Bill, that comp is lovely, my Mx8 trap is color case hardened but there isn’t much color left in places. That wear was mostly done by the previous owner but any gun I own with cch doesn’t have much color left…..I guess I must use them too much!
My High Tech sporting gun sees more use than the others so I opted for a nickel finish on it, I’m into my fifth year with it and it shows no wear.

My "collection" of Perazzi's consists of the two I have shown here. They are proof that Perazzi's will give you years upon years of dedicated service.
I haven't used my Comp 1 a lot and I'm sure that is why the case colours are largely intact.
