Trying to help out a buddy here,

If I could own it I would buy it but there are some stupid 12(3) laws that say I can't.

well its an average Ishapore no mods no Cdn parts, just like they were imported back in the 80's Bore is good, 1 mag, no other extras.

Now if I recall they were going for about $200 when they were imported and now I have no ideal what they are worth.

I'm guessing about $200-$400 range but finding a buyer with 12(3) that wants one may be the problem.

I have purchased some in recent years for deactivation. Never paid more than $150 to $250. They are worth more deactivated, in the $350-$450 range.
Overall, the FNs are a dog these days, especially the Ishapores. The realisation that owners won't be casually shooting them anytime soon has sunk in.

Are you sure that it is 12(3) and not 12(5) ?

I never saw them as low as $99 but the highest I did see them going for was $179. Most of them had fugly banged up stocks and required a good cleaning. If his is in good condition I would say it's worth $100-200 tops or as noted a little more dewatted but even an Ishy doesn't deserve that fate.

The last one I purchased was refurbished with C1A1 parts and came to me for $175. That's how far the mighty have fallen.

When he's decided on a price shoot me a pm [if it's 12(5)].

I will have a dewatt British FN L1A1 in the new year, PICS will be posted. Thanks to Shoot! a bonifide GUN NUTZ

As much as I can empathize with your want of an FN I cannot condone the practice of dewatting them. If it's already done then I guess there's no harm - no foul. If he's dewatting it so that you can have it then your playing into the "anti/Lib" plan to totally remove them from the populace. my 2 cents

sorry  I get my 12(x) mixed up as I did not have any firearms of any 12(x) catagory when the stupid rules came were enacted, and trust me I'm kicking myself for that.

FN should be a 12(5)

I'll let buddy know what its worth now ans see what he wants to do.

Ishapores were never worth much and haven't improved since...maybe try selling it live for $299-$350 and see if anyone bites?

FN should be a 12(5)

A FN can be a 12.2 (full auto or selective fire), a 12.3 (converted auto), or a 12.5 (The FN variants). The Ishapores were semi auto only, so they should all be 12.5, but there were some FNs registered under the wrong 12X.

We had a guy here in Winnipeg who had a C2A1 Fn which was assembled from all new parts as a semi auto. So in theory, it did not leave the factory as a automatic (but rather as spare parts). So he didn't register it when the F/As had to be registered, nor when the C/As had to be registered. When the 12.5s had to be registered, he ended up losing it.

how does that work? not all FNs are interchangeable?

among aussy, brit and canadian, most parts are interchangeable , however some parts has distinct features to that particular country , sometimes its just color, material or certain feature .... eg: canadian used non-sand cut carrier and charging top cover.

The Indians didn't want to pay FN royalties to build their rifle, or purchase from FN directly, so they made a metric/inch version and said that they had developed the rifle themselves.

A friend of mine bought 10 Ishys at a closeout sale for $50 each. Kept one or two live, and deactivated the rest.

re deactivation:
Some of you will recall that I bought a live C2A1 off the EE a few years back, and had it deactivated. I have an appointment in hell for that.

Don't beat yourself up about that...sooner or later it's the smelter or dewatting.
