Looking for some clarification on this. My range membership renewal came in the mail as it does every January, and I filled it out and mailed it back...as I do every January. The problem is, now I have the itch! Am i going to be required to wait until my new renewed membership shows up in the mail and then send it into the CFO before I can make a new purchase?

They have copies of all of my previous year memberships but technically I expired Dec.31st and I havent gotten my 2016 membership card back in the mail as of yet. Does anyone else deal with this every year, or know how this would work?

Just went through exact same thing and I am also in Alberta. I ordered a new pistol before Christmas. Was waiting on new range membership and old one had expired. Even with Christmas etc was approved and shipped in 2 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it.

Why do you send a copy of your range membership to the CFO every year?? They only ask for it (not even a legal requirement .. but they insist) when renewing your PAL/RPAL.

I know many people only buy a range membership every five years to get the new card to send in with their renewal. Their membership expires and stays expired until they renew their license and then they repeat the process. The fact that no laws are broken when their membership expires after the first year should tell you it isn't a requirement or they (the CFO) would be asking everyone for yearly proof of membership and hounding the clubs executive to provide that data ..

When purchasing a new restricted I have never been asked to re-submit my proof of range membership even though the one sent in with my renewal would have expired two or three years earlier.

Thats good to know, thanks. I know some of my local clubs auto-submit member data electronically and for some reason I just thought it had to always be kept up to date. I suppose it was easy enough for me to do so I never really though much of it, especially since I have multiple range memberships every year regardless.
