Another Savage 64

Progress on my new gopher sniper project. Bought a new Savage 64 last spring for a project after seeing a project by Beer Drinker on here. Mounted a Vism 3-9x42 integral green laser scope that was purchased a couple of years ago. Not the finest of optics but suitable for this. An adjustable cheek rest is in the works. I'm open for suggestions as to putting the finishing touches on this. Skeleton frame was mentioned in a prior post, it's a thought and easily done

Any one know of steel mags [ not pot metal] for the Savage 64 or if Cooey mags are steel and would they fit? Need to extend my mag or fab up a larger capacity one.

From Cooey through Lakefield, and now Savage. Only potmetal 10 rd magazines...

I had put one in a cage with a butler creek a while ago, but still no hybrids produced.

I just checked my Buckmark rifle mags and might be able to graft them together for extra capacity. The quest begins. Thnx

A little update on my project. It's a work in progress, my feeble old brain can only process so much at a time. Cheek rest is a mock-up, feels good though.

The mag cover is in place, need to make a mag extension and release.

Another update on the build. Finished up the sniper. A little off the wall but what the h#ll. Doesn't have to be another clone. May have to do a round muzzle brake to see which suits the look best.

Its different but I like it, better get used to people asking "what the hell is that" at the range though.

How did you make the extended mag, or is that part not completed yet?

I used the original mag with an extension. Didn't want to mess with trying to build a hi cap mag. A new release extends just to the bottom of the solid mount fake mag.
