Am I correct in the assumption that the removal of the two pins on the front site assemble will allow it to be removed?
Slid off?

If so then will a fine brass punch work?

Which side do they slide out of?

Are the pins re usable?

Anyone done this to their SKS yet?

BTW I'm asking as I want to try to replace the front sight assembly with one that has a bayonet lug and bayonet (spike type) still intact. :)

For Bear defense of course, and to help retain my cleaning rod. :D

hey R, i was gonna ask you to PM gard but i see you already beat me to him.

now about removal of those pins , i have tried to remove all the pins from my beater sks , the front sight, front ferrule, gas block and rear sight , i manage to only remove the ferrule and the rear sight pins by hammer and driving punch.

the pins came out of the left side but i think it can be either so check your pins carefully and see how it went in.

if you are lucky to remove the pins from the front sight , it still wouldnt be easy to remove the front sight assy , you will need to use a gear puller tool . i think i can find a site for you about that.
