Another SKS mod by canuck94 Completed

Looks sharp! Can you go into more detail on how you made and mounted your home-made compensator? I'd like to shamelessly copy that :)

Cheers

I posted a picture of the sight assembly and if you cut the sight off the sleeve, what you are left with is the remaining shaft and the bayonet swivel portion. I ground the excess swivel off leaving just the pin and just enough meat to cover the pin. then it's just a matter of cutting the shaft on as steep an angle as allowable like a sugar maple tree tap. To mount the compensator you file a new notch on the barrel and pin into place. I will add a after picture to the picture of the entire sight assembly already displayed.

Does the cut in the receiver actually help that much with ejection to the side ?

It's not perfect but it does help quiet a bit and since I have been doing so, I have never had a problem with a low scope mounting. Now also note that the scope mountings that I work with typically have a radius shape and no sharp angles to catch on.

Thank ya, sir. That'll do the trick :)

Cheers

I'm liking the stock, good job on it. I'm wondering what a charcoal or gray would look like. Might have to get a SKS now lol

Any excuse to buy another SKS works....................Tip..............before you try any staining or painting, it's a good idea to completely repair or modify the stock first. To do it again, (and I will) I would install the raised comb before trying that first coat and save refinishing and blending issues.
