Since everyone else is posting up their new SKS's I thought I would join in! Got this a few weeks ago the day my PAL came in the mail and did a few mods after reading a bit on here. Fun rifle! I got a 3" grouping my first day out at 50 yds, going back to try it out at 100 next time now that I have the red dot close to zeroed.

you had to hack off the locking tab of the gas tube retaining pin in order to be able to remove the gas tube for cleaning?

Ya sort of. There was only one spot where I could mount the scope and still use stripper clips as well as disassemble without removing it. The locking tab on the lever ran into the scope so I just cut it off. It's so stiff that it won't move anyways. I don't know if its like this on all sks but this is what I had to do to make it work. Pretty happy with it so far.

looks like it was very close to clearing ... too bad looks good though that bushnell how much was it?

Let us know how well the scope holds zero when you've been out shooting a dozen times. It looks like a compact attachment, with the exception of the locking tab. Is it held on by only one pin?

The mount is held in place by a roll pin and 2 set screws, one on front and one in rear. We will see if it holds, but it seems to be pretty solid. Not hard to switch back to irons though.

UPDATE:

After trying out the red dot and deciding I didn't like it or the small original stock, I got a Timbersmith monte carlo stock and tech sights. Since I am 6'5" this is much more comfortable for me and the tech sights are much nicer to shoot as far as I am concerned. Let me know what you all think!

I havent had to clean it yet, but from what I hear it always goes back to zero. After installing it I can see that it will stay put. Only have 20 or so rounds through it and still need to sight it in.

BTW the rear sight is mounted to the receiver, not the top cover.

X2 I like the scope. Let us know how it stands up and holds zero after a hundred rounds. I'd like to try it if it works.
