Last year I shot an Accuracy International AX with some Insite barrels (6.5X47 and 6XC). The AI guns are great systems, run like a top and are highly accurate.
The rifle did not hold me back but a 3.5 pound trigger and a very high centre of gravity did not make things any easier. I decided to follow the crowd this year and try something different.
The build specs are:
Defiance Deviant Elite action (new this year, CRF, mechanical ejector, extended tenon, coned bolt)
Benchmark 7.5T Heavy Varmint in 6Br
CG Extreme 22 Trigger
MPA BA Chassis
S&B 5-25 in a Spuhr
Muzzle Brake by my buddy Chad
I can't say enough about the guys at Insite. They turned it around in record time and the thing is a hammer. The gun still has less than 50 rounds down the tube and load development is pretty much non-existent, no seating depth changes, one bullet type, one powder type. I will do a proper work up once the barrel is broken in and the brass is 1F.
The largest group of this batch is just over .400, the smallest was just under .350. Calipers are zeroed at .240 so the one pic is already CTC. Currently it is sitting at 2,800 FPS, SD of 7 and ES of 20 over 10 rds. The 6Br brass has very high neck tension so those numbers to improve with the 1F brass. I expect after speed up and some tweaking I will be in the high 2,800 FPS.
The high shot on the left is the cold bore.
The groups on the receipt (I forgot my targets at home) should be better but my aiming point is smaller than the centre dot on my reticle so I expect it will do better on the next outing.
