So I shot Silverdale yesterday. The largest stage there was set up like a V. Starting at the point and working one side then the other. I wanted to cut through rather than run all the way back around and was told I would get a procedural for going over the charge line.

So my question is when can you cross a charge line and when can't you. I have seen many people do it in other matches and have done it my self at the provincials. Only because I seen other do it.

Look at this video, EG does it at 1.39 in the video a couple of times in the stage.

under the new IPSC rule book (if this was an IPSC match) they can declare an area a no go area without needing ropes or walls to limit you.

2.2.1.5 - If a COF has a passageway visibly delineated by fault lines and/or a clearly demarcated shooting area, any competitor who takes a shortcut outside the passageway and/or shooting area will incur one procedural penalty for each shot fired after beginning the shortcut.

There would have been no shooting out of the marked area's. Just cutting the corner to get from one shooting spot to another. Just like in the video.

"for each shot fired after beginning the shortcut." === not only during the shortcut, but for all shots after the shortcut as well.

It doesn't matter...

The video is out of sync with the current rule book. You can no longer do this (short cut) and you could never engage targets on the other side of a fault line...so no need to mention that.

I'm sure if you look hard enough...you can find an entire series of you tube videos from the 80's that show things that are no longer allowed by the current rules...

I think you would be well served by reading the rule book.

Good to hear :) Between the 3 RO's on that side there are about 500 RO points among them. I actually wondered the same thing last year but was shown the rulebook change. Fortunately on my side of the match there were no places to run... just short stuff like a crazy Bill Drill thought up by some jerk :)

Corey I am the guy who had the squib load in at 8 AM squad Saturday morning. You're not a jerk the Bill drill was awesome shooting the classifier twice was nice to. Too bad I got a mike both times. It was a great match go stages for really good.

Thanks

I'm glad you had fun. We try to put on good matches and the weather this weekend was most excellent. Hopefully you can make it out to the next match, and even more so in July when Eric is here. There might be a few other big names who show up as well ;)
