I was out front with the dogs at 5:30AM this morning and heard seven different gobblers all within a couple of hundred yards of the house.:)
Joe took a cell phone pic (not very clear) of a big Gobbler on the gun range yesterday afternoon... he said it was dragging it's beard and looked huge.
The season opens here in four days... I picked up a new Advantage Timber 24 inch vent rib barrel for the SBEII... installed the Holosight... it is now the coolest Turkey Gun in the world.
I am getting killer patterns out to 50 yards with 3 1/2" #6 Federal flight control turkey loads.
Supposed to rain most of the weekend then turn warm next week with a slight chance of showers for the opener. The downside is the mosquitoes and black flies will be out for sure.:(
I will buy two tags today... I am optimistic.:)

Good luck, they are supposed to be very tasty birds. How do those turkey loads kick?
Turkey Loads from a light shotgun deliver brutal recoil... the SBEII is designed to be the best at managing recoil... but it still kicks hard.
Somehow the recoil is magically nonexistent when shooting at a Turkey... go figure;)

Sure wish we had some Turkeys!
I am training them to fly great distances across salt water as we speak....:)

There not bad at all out of my pump 870. People seem to say they have loads of recoil making people fear them, but I shot 10 3 1/2" loads in a couples minutes for patterning and didn't fell sore or have a bruise.

The new loads from Federal are great. I've been getting outstanding patterns with the 3" #6s from my BPS.

Was out scouting yesterday. Things look very promising as long as I get out real early. It seems the birds are roosting in one location then immediately moving somewhere else during daylight hours.

The recoil is stiff but just like a rifle for deer, once the game is in sight you feel nothing. I actually shot the turkey last year, and reloaded and did not even realize the gun went off, everything a surprise keeps the flinching down.

Yeah they were talking behind my place last night aswell so the wife went out and took a blurry pic of a hen in an oak about 200 yds behind the house in our horse pasture.
The hen was with a Tom but he buggered off when my wife approached to take the pic.
I'll be out Wednesday morning as I have to work Tuesday
Good Luck to everyone in de-nogginizing a gobbler or two!

I've got some birds working a couple different areas. One is like clockwork and should very well be dead at 6:30 tomorrow morning. Only problem is I am mainly seeing jakes.
