Colt "Boa". Basically a Colt Trooper Mark V, with a Python barrel and Python-quality bluing, but only 600 made in 6", so a lot rarer if not quite the same "quality". 600 4" models made also, but a no go for here for those without a 12.6 of course. I try and keep an eye on Python sales/prices here and there, and came across the Boa - if you think Python prices are crazy, well..... *sigh*.

It's a nice collector Colt because very few were made but no where near the quality of the Python. Sure it does have the barrel and Royal Blue finish of the Python (except trigger and hammer that are sintered metal parts which is a precursor of MIM). The action is just like a Trooper MK V/King Cobra/Anaconda. Comparable to a plain jane sixes series / GP100 Ruger, worst than just about any S&W's IMO.

It's the rarity (and still great looks) that does it for me, I like different stuff LOL. But would be nice to compliment it with a Python...and Anaconda...and Viper...and King Cobra LOLi, come on lotto numbers LOL.

Owned a lot of Pythons, Anacondas, King Cobras and Troopers back then. Even though the snakes are nice to own for the collector factor of today, beside the Python which is indeed in a league on it's own, anything else is rated under any J, K, L or N frame I own/owned/shot.

Heck, I've decided to retire and put my good'ol '79 Python for sale after lots of use, fun and of course loyal service. It will surly make someone happy and give him/her decades of happiness.

They must have put these together when they were getting out of revolvers as a way to move some units.

With the introduction of the "new" Colt Cobra, we may see Colt getting back into revolvers. Lord knows they need the cash flow.

Just read a write up on the new Cobra and it seems to be about 90-95% as good as the originals. Cant wait to get one.

OK, just to be clear (lots of PM's lol), it's not mine! Just happened to learn of it recently while keeping an eye on the Python market and now I want one too and it's now on my own personal "Unicorn List". :)

I was searching for 1 for years in order to complete my Snake Pit.. After finding a few and seeing the asking prices were over $7K US on average, I gave up on it. After all, it was a distributor special, not an actual Colt built model. Now days, its not unusual to see them going for over $10K USD. With the ridiculous prices for Pythons(none of which are worth anywhere near that) all snakes seem to be riding the coat tails of the Python to a lesser degree.
