Another update to my land issues... Several people charged with various offences

I do take notes and photos. The cop said that I would not likely be called to court as he was the one laying the charges. But the slim possibility existed. He figures the other 2 with trespassing tickets will simply pay the fine. The guy with the firearms charges will go to trial for sure.

Good stuff, always be prepared..

Handcuffs are for anyone arrested. Criminal Code Summary offences are arrestable under certain circumstances and not arrestable under others. But ANYONE who is arrested should be handcuffed. Some people don't like it, but that's the way it is.

Absolutely, great point, anyone arrested gets cuffed.. In this case firearms involved, even more so, officer safety is paramount..

Years ago I inadvertently trespassed on somebodies private property ,I went in on an unposted piece of land, got turned around and came out on the back side of a guys place,I crossed no fence lines or anything that would indicate I was on private propertyuntil I came to a dirt road and was walking down it .The guy came out ,screamed and yelled and threatened me, and told me to 'get off his land' ...in spite of me telling him I was lost and all I wanted to do was get back to my truck ....so that can happen too.
absolutely...funny things can happen! I wandered onto a piece of property intending to hunt when a couple of strangers came out of the bush and demanded I leave as it was private property! They were pretty aggressive...and it took a few minutes to explain that I knew it was private property because - as it happened - I was the owner. They continued the aggressive behaviour (still trying to convince me I shouldnt be there :) until I mentioned that my cottage was just down the road and if it was necessary..i would call the police. Point is dont always trust the guys who order you off a piece of land.....sometimes they are BS artists.

I'd discourage from the handcuffing... even if you're trained in "use of force" whatever that means.

Pictures, video, any names or ID is good.

If you want your land to get watched well, invite the conservation officers and police to hunt on it, some good locals who will reciprocate. We barely get time off for such things, any OPP officers are going to keep it looked after if they know they have a place to bag a deer or turkey, or whatever, and won't want some losers taking them all.

One opening day on the way into a spot I wanted to hunt I came across a orange tape with 'do not cross' printed on it across a FS road, and decided not to go through thinking it was active logging, tree planting or something like that..Later I found out it was put there by a guy who couldn't away for opening day and taped the road,so you never know. Posted land or locked gates is pretty clear but some guys will do everything ( like blocking roads ) to keep people out of their favourite hunting spots

Am camped out tonight, up at the property. A friend is coming up for 0400 tomorrow. We will hunt till we get some turkey or till 1900. I set up a hoochie and a sleeping bag. No clouds tonight - the stars are amazing. It is muggy though. Brought up a few pops and I am sweating them out. Playing around on a shortwave radio - lots of religious programming from Florida and Radio China. Will be up for another hour and turn in. Trail cams are set up on the road and the driveway. I have been up here since 1800. And all is quiet. I hope the guys ticketed and the one charged spread the word. I texted the MNR officer and the cop to tell their hunting buddies to contact me if they want a place to hunt. Also told the glass repair guy to tell his friends. It will be good to get some trustworthy locals up here to keep a eye on things. If they have a badge, then so much better. Good luck to anyone else out turkey hunting Sunday.
