I took my csa vz 58 in 223 out to the range the other day, and I was interested to see how it would function with the ar15 magwell adaptor in it. I noticed that when I inserted my pmag into it, the lip of the mag would catch and activate the bolt hold open, making it unable to fire. I removed the bolt catch so I can at least use the gun now; but now i notice that when I insert the 5th round into the mag, aka the bullet is on the left side of the mag (facing forwards), and insert the mag on a closed bolt, the bolt still catches on the round and wont cycle, but if I hold the bolt open, insert the mag and then close the bolt akin to a garand, or if I remove a bullet so that the top bullet is on the right side facing forwards, it functions fine. anyone else notice/have this isue? On an empty mag the bolt still seems to catch on the mag follower. Is that just something I'll have to live with, or is there a way around it? I bought it with only the magwell adaptor, I dont have the original magwell and mags so cant testify to the "normal" function of the rifle. Otherwise i love this gun.

I seem to recall hearing early on that the CSA adapters are USGI mag compatible only. P-mags were considered a no-go, possibly for this very reason!

I believe CSA stated only usgi mags for the adapter. I think the Gen3 pmags are supposed to resolve these issues to work with more rifles that use AR mags, and I believe one of those issues was the bolt catch.

IIRC tv-presspass had a video about modding pmags to work properly in the Tavor, I believe it was for the same concern.

I also had issues with some 10 round lar mags that would do the same thing, when the adapter finally broke the feed tab on the one side I went back to using the factory mags and have had no feed issues since. The adapter is a nice concept but lacks the durability for anything more than cassual plinking at the range. I would source some factory mags , I belive Kelly's online sportingoods had some a while back. I chose to use the stock mags because if the gun don't feed then she is just a big cumbersome club , It needs to go bang . The 10 round thing is nice and CSA should make a VZ pistol with dedicated marked pistol mags for the Canadian market then we get our cake and eat it too LOL.

Gen 3 pmags are what a polymer mag should be. :p
No it's the same issue that you had with the PMag's and your tavor.
Do the same mod to make it more like a USGI square cut out.
