Another weird thing not yet found, town rumor

Well Likely is a thriving metropolis compared to Manson Landing, although Horsefly is a nice place and I have cousins in Beaver Valley near Big Lake

Likely, hydraulic and Morehead were all heavily associated with the goldrush in the area.

If you like interesting things drop by the Ft Nelson Museum when your in the area.

I was just down at Quesnel Forks for the Forks Festival which was fun! My uncle had been working hard with his crew to "restore" some of the old buildings that are down there! I'll post pictures later in the OT.

I also know where all three grow ops are hidden away but the RCMP don't want to hear about those....

Meh! :p

NAA.

... Although it's MOST likely a Bren Gun Carrier ( Universal) there would perhaps be an outside possibility, of this mystery vehicle being a WINDSOR Carrier... a couple of feet longer, and generally, improved capability. ..... David K ;)

Makes me wonder though if it's the BREN carrier from out here though. Can't be too many of them floating around in BC.....
There used to be lots of Bren Gun carriers in BC. Its just that, after the war, they were bought up cheap and turned into farm tractors, skidders and God knows what else. My grandfather grafted one on to a 1 ton truck, added a winch and went logging with it. I've got a picture somewhere, I'll post it if I find it. All these carriers were worked into the ground and left where they died.

I do believe that a Bren carrier and the universal carrier are two different vehicles. the Universal carrier being larger and having one more track wheel.

.. The "T16" is the same as the Universal Carrier/Bren Gun Carrier. The Universal was just that, in that it performed all sorts of different roles, and there were variations in the body configuration. Mortar Platform, Vickers Machine gun and so on. The bigger version as the Windsor Carrier and it was about 2 feet longer, slightly wider and had an extra set of wheels. More capable, and most seemed to have been employed more as Troop Carriers, than anything else, whereas the Universal was used for scouting and to provide additional firepower and mobility to Troops ( And radio Communication )..... Both used a very slightly modified version of the Flathead Ford V8 Engine. ..... David K

I'll keep you updated but in the river out front of my uncle's place I could have SWORN seeing one or two of the "front wheels" of a BREN carrier. At least they looked the same, I figured they were cable pulleys. The water is high so I can't go out to find them right now.

... Don't give up hope just yet ! Most of the Bren Gun/Universal Carriers had a couple of spare wheel attached, generally on the front sloping portion. ( Sometimes inside the hull, engine compartment area.) ..... David K

Yeah I seen that in the pictures, figure if this IS a BREN carrier wheel then maybe it was broken and just tossed into the river. The river was used as the garbage dump (for glass, metal, ceramics, etc) back in the 1800's and up until the 1950's. Makes for some interesting scuba diving!
