Its time, another what rifle should I buy thread.

Ill lay out the parameters.

Action: Bolt
Cost: $2300 maximum!
Cal: 6.5 CM
Use: double duty, target and hunting.
Must haves: adjustable cheek.

Synopsis: this will primarily be a target gun, I intend on using it for hunting as well though. I would like it come with a promise of 1 moa or better. I would like a robust gun, something I can hand down to children in 25 years.

Rifles on the short list:

Bergara b14 HMR wilderness.
Pros: Accuracy, durability, 700 platform (lots of parts), coating, adjustability, price
Cons: weight, its not a pig but its not “light”

Sig Cross
Pros: weight, adjustability, size, super tacticool
Cons: initial trigger recall, inconsistent accuracy reviews it seems ammo picky, the for-end is tactical but cleaning under it is a pain. More wiggly bits to wear out over time.

If you can think of any other rifles that should have my attention. Let me know!
Ive also though of a Weatherby in a chassis. Ive always had good luck with them and love their two stage triggers.

Check out the X-Bolt Speed LR (or one of the other X-Bolts with the features you desire). It won't break the bank and leaves room for a good optic in the budget. It comes with the adjustable cheek and chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. With taxes and shipping, you'll be under $2K. My X-Bolt Hunter in .308 is one of the slickest most accurate rifles I have ever owned.

Daniel Defence Delta 5. Adjustable cheek riser/stock. Built in mini-chassis. M-look fore end. Weight isn’t bad. Trigger is great. You can change out the barrel without having to send it to a gunsmith. Takes AI mags. Bolt knob can be changed out. Rail is made for heavy duty use. They did their best to make a “modular” bolt action, and it’s an impressive set-up. Heck, if I’m not mistaken, even Hungry is using one, although it’s the “Pro” that comes in the complete chassis. (A lot more weight to it)

I'm not sure any rifle can truly excel at hunting and precision shooting simultaneously, given weight considerations, but you may also want to consider the Sako S20 or the Daniel Dense Delta 5 (for $200 more)

I didnt know the Daniel defence even had a rifle in game. Interesting. I do like it but it seems on par with the beragara for almost 800 more though. The Sako is definitely a strong contender. I know sako will give a quality life time rifle that is super smooth. Time to dive into some reviews.

Daniel Defense from their website: “ GUARANTEED TO SHOOT .75 MOA OR BETTER. Talk is cheap—including talk about how accurate a rifle shoots—so we're putting some real firepower behind our words. All Daniel Defense DELTA 5 rifles are guaranteed to shoot .75 MOA or less at 100 yards when used with quality factory match-grade ammunition. Not "should"; not "might." Guaranteed to. How can we make such a claim? Because we've done the work and the testing to back it up. It's not just talk; it's not bravado. It's science backed up by data. Data that says, "If we can do it, so can you." Guaranteed.”

Damn eh, what most of us would do/pay for even a 1/4 of an inch. Lol.

I do love that the bergaras are 700 prints though. Tried and tested. Can get parts for it easy (trigger really)

True, but with the DD you don’t need to spend the money on an aftermarket trigger - it comes with an adjustable single stage Timney Elite Hunter with two position safety (1.5 – 4 lbs). That’s saving you about $250 right there.

Hey, you need to get what you like, and what you’re comfortable with. I’m not a DD salesman. I’m just pointing out that you are getting one heck of a lot of top of the line features packed into one decently affordable package.

That is a fair point. The big issue is I do have a budget. The more i dip outside of it, the less I can spend on glass. A decent trigger will get me going also most rifles even with fantastic triggers are single stage. I have a personal preference for two stage triggers. Im still looking up the DD though. I never even knew they had a rifle in this price range and area.

I know the feeling brother. And being able to upgrade over time is a bonus as well. I just know that I’ve spent more and wound up with less in the long run. Started out with a Savage 10-TR ($600). Then it was a new barrel from Mystic (McGowen SS match) that was $1000 by the time I had it installed. Then it was an MDT ESS chassis that was another grand. Then it was an upgraded trigger. Then…then…then. And that’s not counting glass, or a bipod, or an ACRA rail. Suddenly I had a friggin Savage that I had over $2500 into….A SAVAGE! But it was all done over time, and I wound up with the rifle I wanted. But, at the same time, when I look at what I invested in it, I could have spent less money in the long run, and wound up with a ready made rifle.

What’s the old saying……Buy once - cry once.

Tikka T3x UPR, $ 1975, out of the box

Tikka T3x Lite Synthetic, $ 1125 + MDT XRS $ 659.95 = even better package for $ 1785
