I am going through my milsurp colllection trying to find values for them sould i want to sell/trade some of them. I have a pretty good idea on most based on what i have seen others sell for, but i have one that i haven't really seen a comparable specimen to compare it to.
My Belgian FN49, the external i would probably rate as good to very good, bore is so-so, lightly pitted throughout, numbers all apear to be matching but i suspect the stock is a replacement as it is unnumbered and the paint on the butplate is a different colour than the rest of the gun. It also still has the crest on the reciever and i have heard must where ground off. I have a guess of between 600-800 but that is purely based on one i have seen for sale in the US, as relevant as that is. So what do you guys think?

Oh and for what it's worth it's not for sale at the moment.

7.92x57mm Egyptian FN49's command the least amount of cash usually because there are more of them available then any other, add more money if a scope mount or scope rail is present. ($450 - $650)

30-06 Belgian FN49's (or, technically 7.62x63mm could also be: Belgian Congo, Luxembourg, Indonesia, Colombia, or Brazil...) are highly sought after because of their caliber, (one of the most popular in Canada and the US), and for their being so well made (Lux's are some of the best). ($650 - $950)

Venezuelan 7x57mm FN49's are more scarce and can command some good prices if in decent condition. ($650 - $850)

And lastly, there are the Argentine 7.65x53mm FN49's. These, in my opinion, are not worth as much as the others because of the scarce ammunition availability, then again, I don't even think I have ever seen one of these for sale in this caliber.... The Argentinians did convert many of their rifles to 7.62x51mm and added detachable 20 round mags, now these are HOT items!! If you happen to be one of the lucky ones with an Argentine NATO conversion SAFN, I would say it should sell for at least $1000 in good condition.

This is all in my humble opinion.... YMMV. ;)
