So I've duck hunting in some prettt fowl weather in some pretty fowl terrain and my gear has been taking a fowl beating :p. I have a baikal semi that jammed up on me and the trigger doesnt work properly anymore so I was left with my old Browning Auto 5 with fixed mod choke barrel which sat in the rain for 6 hrs before taking a swim at the boat launch and then sat in a waterlogged case the whole 2hr ride home. Once home I spent a loooong time using youtube videos to disassemble the shotgun and even longer amount of time reassembling ( in fact its not fully assembled yet).
So I know now that I need a reliable workhorse, easy to disassemble for cleaning because it will get dirty often. I guess I could get a cheap pump to abuse but would still like a semi. I have easy access to an sx4 at a decent price but no clue how rugged they are.
Suggestions please ;)

Fit is the most important factor to consider when buying a shot gun. If your budget permits and if fit is good, I'd recommend a Browning Silver or Maxus. If you want something a more economical, consider a Mossberg 935....again if the fit is good

I really want to know whos abused the heck out of their guns. That Baikal I have was supposed to be a tank, not even close piece of garbage if you ask me, almost as frustrating as the beavertail roof i bought for my blind lol

Go with the Benelli Vinci, excellent reliability, bore is chrome lined and you can take the whole thing down in a couple of second without any tools for cleaning, which given your situation might be a good thing to be able to do.

The looks are a love or hate kind of thing but they shoulder and handle very nicely.

I'll give ya a couple of brown bills for that old useless Auto 5! Don't even put it together I'll take care of that. Actually with a bit of practice you can strip one down completely then clean and reassemble in less than an hour.

I put the ol auto 5 back together. Instructions say im supposed to have 2 bronze rings in there for heavy loads. I only have 1 now, will I damage my gun shooting goose loads through it?

One is all you want for steel loads. Very lightly oil the mag tube and I use just two drops. Coat the whole tub then spring ,steel ring flat side to the spring and bronze friction tube. Then barrel and fore arm and tube nut to finish. Make sure the fore arm is seated properly and finger tighten the tube cap.

I've owned Remington 1100 and 11-87, Mossberg 930, Browning Auto-V and was happy with all. When the weather is crappy, I'll take the 930 every time.
