so my brain started to throw ideas by it self "AGAIN" without making me think about the wallet f:P:

This will be used for Mtn Goat and Sheep next year and plinking at an old frying pan LR.

Here are some info about this lady.
Chambered in 300RUM
She has accruacy international 2.0 folding stock
Atlas bipod ( not installed on photo )
Mpod ( installed on photo)
Everything has been sand blasted and duracoated
The stock and the scope will be sent out in few months to be changed to army green Digital Camo.

Scope and stock has a duracoat base with Hydro imaging on it which i kind of "don't like" so dont make fun of it since i do know it looks funky ATM f:P:

It is getting late so i will post details of parts put in this rifle tomorrow.

In snowy and wet conditions, the stock will be swapped to Choate Custom Tactical so i will not feel bad to be little banged up.

Most parts were ordered through "Jerry" from Mystic Precision which he is a fantastic fellow to deal with.

Gunsmithing was done my Terry from Black Art Rifle Company which he is "very" good person to deal with for sure. I have been dealing with many gun smiths in my day but Terry does get in my top choice now.

Will be Building a Twin Sister with terry soon!

I was thinking to myself "Oh come on, how bad could the hydro stuff be?" then I scrolled down...

Just kidding that is one hell of a rifle what's the barrel maker and length?

Shlien SS Match 1/10 twist.
Yea i was hesitant to put the pictures with the scope, but hey i might win the gold medal for most money spent to make it ugly! whoo hoo.
bench gun just turned into bush gun for me for few months until it gets new plastic surgery. lol

Terry might have a nice Robertson TAC stock for your build, (only if you do the build with him I would think as they are rare as hen's teeth) he does great work Jefferson

she is at about 15lb so hiking with it might be little too tough.. will be hitting the gym soon.....
Terry had few extra Krieger and shillen barrels on hand when i went to go visit him so might steal one of 338 barrel for my self.

Man you got your bolt handle on the wrong side of your rifle!f:P:

What kind of brake do you have on there?

Shes a nice looking rifle. What bullets are you shooting and how fast can the RUM push them?

<--- Lefty

will be using 215 berger with retumbo. have not fired one round yet tho. it will be pushing it just over 3000fps i think.

Kimmer are you going to climb the mountain to shoot the goat or plink it from base camp in the valley?

Have you any experience with 'biathalon' style rifle slings? I wonder if that might not make life a bit easier for a heavyweight...

I have climed few mountains with few 12-13lb rifles no problem but i do walk slow and take many breaks in between. I do like the "biathalon" style slings but with my frame pack, it doesnt really work well for me.

Currently I use those Safari Sling which works great! The AI stock will be swaped with Choate custom Tactical for a long hike and and no bipod. prone on top of my backpack is what i usually shoot for those critters at longer ranges but i usually dont shoot anything over 300-400m.

The purpose of this rifle build was only for sheep, goat, and mostly BR target shooting for fun so it tends to be on heavier side then what i want.

Will be testing 250 VLD hunting berger, 225 TTSX barnes for hunting rounds and will be testing with berger Hybrids for target shoot.

using fed215 match since i can get that everywhere. Retumbo will be started from 85grains to compressed loads until i get the plumber ring on bottom of my brass if i cant seem to find the perfect load before that.
starting next week i will be able to take some time to test her out.
The stock is both interchangable for left or righty Rem700 LA so it might be changed to 338 if i do not like how it feels.

I was under the impression that the .300RUM would not function in the AI mags, due to cartridge shoulder vs. rib placement.
How did you address that? I don't see a "window" in your mag where the rib would be milled out.

Later....

The 338LM mags will accomodate the 300RUM with very light grinding Ribs inside of mag and just need to pull out the front Lips with Plyers lightly and it will fit like a glove. However if you are using hot loads with Berger Bullets, the mag will not fit the Total Length of 300RUM. Which i am currently facing,, and it is bascially a single load for Target. for hunting, all depends if accruacy drops or not with seating of bullet, but I will be building a secondary action, barrel, trigger, and scope for that same stock in 338 LM. So i can just pop the stock out to use 338LM or 300RUM whenever i want to. If that is too much pain in the future, i have an Extra Choat Custom Tactical stock for back up so maybe using that for 300RUM in the future.
Wil post more photo when other action and barrel is going to be finished for this build... maybe in few months since lefty action is hard to come by it seems like..

That's a sweet looking rifle. It's too bad about the... , well, never mind. :p
You say 15 pounds, I'm guessing 18-19 with optics. That barrel looks like a cannon. :)

Jerry and Terry built my first rifle, and they'll be doing another soon. Nothing but good things to say about both of them.

yes you are correct, with scope and ring mounted, it is at around 18lb atm.

Thanks kimmer82.
That is a sweet rifle you have there.
I have an early Sendero that I have wanted to put in a AICS. The mag issue held me back.
If a "light grinding" works, this will be my spring project!

Later.....

A goat or sheep rifle it is definately not. Looks good though for paper, plinking or long range hunting from a blind etc.
