I picked up another set of Herrett's Shooting Star grips in September. This one a set for a S&W J frame square butt. They didn't look too bad on the intended revolver, a model 43, but I'm not a huge fan of checkered grips on my wheel guns. Apologies for the less than stellar cell phone pics.

The grips:

After three coats of cherry wood stain:

Finally, six hand rubbed coats of True Oil:

This is a neat little revolver. It is basically an airweight version of the model 34. Even the cylinder is aluminum. It has pressed in steel sleeves. It only weighs 14oz. The Magna style grips it came with are terrible and I was glad to grab this gun show find.

I just sold a set of K frame grips, Bill Jordon by herrad? smooth , looked just like what you end up with, I found them a bit too thick for me.
