Anschütz .22 CIL Model 310 bolt action, and 40 years later :)

Back in the mid 70s my Father gave me my first .22 rifle.

I had never shot a gun or seen one shot, he took a big potato put it on the fence post stepped back 20 yards, loaded a .22 Imperial LR hollow point up, took aim!

Next thing was the loudest bang ever, with the potato just blowing into pieces.

He looked at me, said never forget that potato, never point the rifle at anything that I didn't want shot, and if he ever hears about me messing up the rifle is GONE.

Fast forward 40 years and now my teenage son has my old .22 friend. Over the years the stock finish wore off, so we refinished the stock with Tru Oil. Somewhere along the years the front hood and front ramp were lost (wish I could find the complete front sight assembly) but at least I have the 10 round magazine.

It shoots just well as it did in the 70's, best trigger ever, love the wood grain, and build quality.

Anyways, felt like sharing her journey and would love to hear from other old school Anschütz CIL 310 lovers. :)

I have one too. I was looking for one for a while and finally found one at Prophet River so I bought it and had it shipped to Ontario. I'm very happy with it. It is my most accurate .22 (I have 6 others). I can't see myself ever selling/trading it.

Great to hear, would love to see a pic of the front sight assembly. :)

Bought my 310 new in the mid 70's. Still have it, a few marks in the stock, bluing is awesome. Has the European schnabel style stock. Doesn't get used much now as I favor my CZ 452's.

Randy,

The CIL 310 is based on the Anschutz Mod 1416 D, repeater. Spare parts of 1416 fit, except trigger.

The front sight parts are still available from Anschutz, I checked and we have 4 kits in inventory!

Same with me, just different model

... if he ever hears about me messing up the rifle is GONE.
Similar...only dad said to me he would "break it in half". Can still hear him saying that. Dad was a big guy and I knew he wasn't just blowing smoke.

Awesome you have someone to pass that on to! Nice job on the stock!!

Yes, move the bolt handle upwards to ####, pull the triggerand hold it, and slide the bolt assembly rearward and out.

Randy
That is what mine looks like in case you are wondering. My rear sight is the same as you describe.
