Anschultz/CIL 470 problems HELP?!?!

I have run into a problem with the .22 semi that I recently aquired, that I have not seen before, and was hoping that someone might care to advise:

1) I have tried to clean the gun thoroughly. If there is any way ( or a trick or technique) to remove the bolt handle so that I can remove the block I do not know what it is. I know there is a spring loaded piece of metal that sits in a groove in the bolt handle, but I simply cannot convince the metal to move back so that the handle is free to be removed.

2) When firing the gun, it will fire for a few rounds, then jam. the bolt is VERY stiff, but returns to normal when I work it by hand a few times. The problem is evident after every clip is emptied and the bolt locks open on the clip.

It is also evident after nearly every 2nd round with a higher velocity ammo.
The gun seems to work best with target ammo, although sometimes the bolt does not seem to carry back hard enough to #### the mechanism (usually while the bolt has become very stiff)

Standard and high velocity are worse.

I have never seen this behavior in a semi. Miss-feeding I am familiar with. Visual inspection does not seem to reveal any problems. Thorough cleaning seemed to help, but not eliminate the problem....

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well out of my league platform-wise...No Annies yet!

Curious, did it function well and, degrade after the cleaning? Function has always been an issue?

On other .22 semi's I have, I've found that any "wet" lubrication in the action will affect it's function. I actually have a few (cooey 64's, Mossberg) semi's that I have to run dry and, lube only for storage/ rust prevention. For cleaning those, I use libberal amounts of brake cleaner and, brushes.

I have done a quick "googling" on your rifle but, no good info yet (other than Numrich having a "bolt handle retainer" available....:

I have (while at the range) just hosed semi .22's with break cleaner until it "ran clear"...no disassembly required but, not a "true" takedown and, cleaning either.

Godd advise about the brake fluid. By co-incidence I just did that, but I again oiled it, and that may be my mistake. Perhaps the oil is holding in pressure, although I do not see how that is possible. I simply can't figure out why the action is stiff, and frees up if I work it manually.

I really appreciate the link to the manual. I had no luck finding it myself.

I hope to have another go tomorrow. After reading the manual. I'll let you know how it works out.

I used to think rimfire was "dirty" ammo. I thought about it and actually shoot about 500:1 rimfire:centerfire(including shotty)...My cleaning ration isn't that...

Sounds like a "crud" issue ESP. if it did work and, then quit. (as opposed to never having functioned properly). I didn't actually download your manual (slow dialup) but, it's the right direction.

...in retrospect, kind of wishing I'd just suggested you "drop the junk" on me for 50$'s...

I got the bolt out without forcing it, and I found the problem. There is a hairline crack in the bolt. I figure that the heat from firing expanded the metal and jammed it. That is why the problem occurred after firing a few rounds, then jammed.
