has anyone seen/heard of one of these in canada?

i spoke to clay at prophet river about getting me one various times over the last few years but he never really got back to me.

has anyone got one?

its frustrating as i was in a shop in the UK last month and they had 4 of them sat on the shelf... which took all my will power not to grab and dash for the door, lol...

64 action with a 14-16" barrel? I can think of ways to create the same thing for less/similar price.

not just that, it has a two stage trigger too.. and ive always found they have nicer wood than most.. plus the threads, for use when i take it into countries that allow us to use safety equipment...

I was thinking a 64 action with a custom barrel put on. They aren't threaded in, so it wouldn't be that complicated of a machining job.

How short is the barrel BTW? 14"?

The two stage trigger is available as an accessory for the 1416, and it would be easy to shorten the barrel, and even thread it if you chose to. Given that I don't see any 1417s listed anywhere in North America, it might even be cheaper than having to import a 1417.

You won't find them in the USA as it would be a short barrelled rifle there.

And we can't chop a barrel to 14 inches legally here. Only install a factory one manufactured that short. Which I can't see as being readily available. And the 1417 is the same price as a regular 64 rifle so it shouldn't be too expensive.

Ill pester clay again soon to see if he ever got anywhere.

Right you are , but you could have a 14" barrel made, and have it installed. If the 1417 is not being exported to North America, your best bet might be an Anschutz dealer, since some of them import directly from Europe.

I think Canada does not use the USA supplier for anschutz. So it should be importable. I think I just need to push clay a bit by waving my credit card at him and telling him to get it for me.

Crunch, you are correct. The Canadian importer acquires these rifle from Europe. A friend ordered one through Epps a couple of years ago; fantastic little rifle.

Any dealer who deals with North Sylva can order you that rifle. I have ordered several anschutz rifles that people thought we couldn't get here. Its not hard. just have to find a dealer willing to call North Sylva and ask. Pay your money and wait. Its a great little rifle and if its what you want, buy it.

Peter is the exclusive importer for Anschutz in Canada, he works at Target Shooting Products/North Sylva.

it's a 14"..

i currently have the CZ 16", which i will keep as its a great field gun.. but having moved here from Europe where 2 stage triggers are very common, plus having carried stuff in work with 2 stage, this rifle really appeals to me..

i was going to call him tomorrow, but if he replies to your email let us know.
