Came across a local deal on a 1710 today. Definitelty an older rifle, some minor dings and scratches on the stock, reasonably decent wood. Bluing was excellent, dark and glossy no signs of rust.
-checkering on both grip and forend
-Schnabel forend. Euro type stock, where the top of the comb slopes to the heel
-22.25" barrel, regular profile
-Comes with 10 shot clip, is missing front sight hood and rear sight replaced with smooth wedge.
-serial#13688xx
-$1200, no box, no papers
The action is absolutely beautiful to cycle, it is as much of an improvement over a 64 action, as a 64 is over a cz452.

Any ballpark guesses what a person should pay for something like this.
I'll try to sneak some pics with my iPhone next time, forgot to do that today.

Thanks,

Thanks for your perspectives, I won't be in any great rush now to pony up $1200+tax. I'll offer $1000+tax and see what happens.

Strange though, I walked in to see if they had any CZ453s left in stock, which they didn't. And walked out realizing how much I needed an Anschutz 54 action rifle.
This is the first time I've seen and handled a 54 up close: very, very impressed.
Are the Coopers on par or better in your opinions???

Thanks,
Gord

I prefer my Coopers to a 1710,but that is more a matter of stock design and fit.Quality and accuracy wise, they are very close as far as hunting rifles are concerned.
