Does anyone have any experience with the Anschutz Model 64 Sporter Benchrest? I currently have a CZ452 22lr Varmint that I use for informal target shooting and am looking for something that might be a next step up. I am wondering if it is worth spending the extra money on this gun with the new "64" action. My questions are.....Is it a more accurate rifle? Is it a rifle that can be used for informal competitions with the expectation of getting good groups at 50 yds. if I do my part? The next step up is the Anschutz BR line that is far to expensive. Any help or information is appreciated.:)

The answer to your questions is yes. I have four CZ's and they are excellent shooters, but they are no an Anschutz. I have a model 54 Annie and the wife uses a 64 Anschutz in a model 190 that we use at informal competition at the club. Both guns will out shoot what we can do, get the 64 and you won't be sorry.

You will always wonder what a 54 would shoot like? LOL

Ive got a CZ452 armint and Ive changed the trigger springs, Its a shooter, BUT Ive also got a Annie 54 match and to be honest theres a big difference. the annie shoots everything well and when you find what she really likes its deadly accurate. just my 2cents

This rifle is an Anschutz 64 Bench Rest. Sporter and Bench Rest would be different IMO.

As of last Saturday, this rifle was still for sale. Contact me if interested and I will put you in touch with the owner.

A fellow shooter let me try his Anschutz 54 Match today. I was using Lapua .22lr Rifle Match ammo. Trigger was set at 3oz. This firearm was so smooth to shoot. Although I cant compare it to another high end .22. Five shots one hole.....I know I know, but no pictures. For those that own these firearms, they will tell you its not really that hard to do. Im looking at one of the sponsor sites now for the Anschutz.....hmmmmmm not a bad price.

I shoot BR. I also have a match 64, CZ455and Norc NS522
The cz and Norc shoot considerable better groups then the 64. Maybe I have a odd ball 64. Maybe it is me.
All are bedded, free floating and have trigger work done.
Going to put the 64 up for sale, shortly. I have been shooting for over 40 years now and BR for just the last 3 years.

Is that the newer 64 mr R thats avaiable that your asking about....Im looking at these as well.

My first choice would be the 64 Sporter Benchrest version and failing that it would be the 64 MP R multi purpose version.

You can turn the CZ action into a BR rifle if you like, I don't think the 64 is a big jump up from the CZ action. Unless the 64 comes with a super Annie Trigger. If you are going to an Annie go to a 54 action. An older used 54 is still much better than a 64 in my opinion.

Well, I just ordered the 64 MPR. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the MPR and the Benchrest is the stock, by looking at the Anshutz website all the other part numbers seem to be the same other than the stock.

Ill pick it up in a couple weeks...havnt decided wether to go aperture or telescopic on it yet....kinda leaning toward aperture tho!
