Anschutz 64R Tactical Trainer 64R AND 64MPR

Can confirm, a good Annie will deliver. This one is picky about ammo, but a tuner makes it behave ;) Fun fact, this is one of the ones I re-barreled, but just with another factory Annie barrel in this case. Only did two sessions of tuner testing since the tuner was supposed to be bored out and fitted to a custom, but that project is severely delayed due to the shipping damage mentioned previously. Never did bore out the tuner so I suppose I'll keep playing with it on this rifle, and try the Midas + it liked so much without the tuner.

All groups shot at tuner setting 1-19/20 were 0.3's or better, with only one group out of 16 going slightly above 1/2" at a disagreeable tuner setting.

For .22LRGUY, I shoot monthly silhouette matches with my Anschütz rifles, and have been trying to find a less expensive load than Midas + to run, since I can't use a tuner there. Eley sport was "good enough" but I wouldn't be happy with any HV stuff. These really aren't the kind of rifle to get if that's the kind of ammo you'll be shooting. I'd take an Annie to a gopher patch (where in Ontario are they?) but I'd hesitate to go through the squirrel woods with one. I've got a CZ for that duty.

Hi Rabid~thanks for the input. There are none in Ontario of course, but WestJet and I have an arrangement. :) I try to get to S. Alberta every year, and the rough plan for the next gopher trip is the spring of 2018. I have my 452 living in Alberta at the moment, and it's a fine gopher gun...just hoping a TT would make the cut with HV ammo in case I wanted to try it out there. Truth is, I'd likely be just as content leaving it here in Ontario where I'd use it more, and wouldn't mind plinking with garden variety, CCI SV/SK Standard-grade ammo.

Plinking in style that is. :)

For those still interested in a "tactical trainer" (whatever that means) there is the 64 MP R Tactical Trainer http://www.nordicmarksman.com/64-MP-R-Tactical-Trainer.html

Rabid, I know I want to take my annie out for tree rats, I think it would be a pretty fun day taking head shots in the woods. The bush in SWO isnt very thick... Ill likely bring a back up if I think I will damage the rifle in any was ill switch up.

Grauh - that is literally what is on the way for me. So the sage of tactical trainers continues.

Well gentlemen... She is home. She is assembled... She is ready for ammo testing!

The trigger on the 64MPR is DEFINITELY A bench trigger... WOW Even my girlfriend looked shocked, then asked how safe that was lmao!

The difference in trigger and barrel thickness/weight is very very obvious lol. (between the 64R and the 64MPR)

Is the comb adjusted for you? Looks like your eye would be 3" above the scope with it elevated that high.

hahaahah, yea. So I have a very high cheek bone. That high is only about a cm or so too high in the picture.

so technically yes, but I still do have an abnormally high cheek rest usually. Most people cant obtain proper sight pictures through my rifles because I have the rest so high.

Its roughly 1 inch from center of my eye to bottom of my cheek bone.

Very nice...very nice! Would have loved to see a photo of both guns side-by-side for comparison.

Re: the trigger~I (wrongly?) thought all 64s had the same 2-stage trigger...no? I'm just a beginner with this Anschutz stuff...forgive the dumb question. :)

No... there are several triggers available... the 5094 is standard for the hunting line, where as the MPR et al generally come with the 5092 or 5098... but there are many others available.

Thanks for the info Hoyt. Just looked, the standard TT has 5092, the MP R has 5098. Safe to assume then that 5098 is a better trigger?

Better? Well, they are both two stage triggers, the 5092 is factory set to 800g's... the 5098 is factory set to 180g's... so it has a much lighter pull (range)... I have the 5092 on my hunting rifle and it is perfect, where as the single stage 5094 at 1200g's was heavy for my taste... but I would not want the two stage 5098 (180g's) on a hunting rifle... for a bench rig it is probably the better choice for the majority of shooters.

I just reread all 15 pages.

I can't wait to see how well the new rifle does.

Thanks for keeping us updated!

Cheers,

Well here we go guys, after a good test session out I have some results... Im a happy camper! I think I could have done better also today if I didn't have a 338 with a muzzle break beside me and a 308 on the other side...

I will type up the results of all 6 ammo types tested in best to worst... Then slam some pictures... It would appear I did the 50 yard challenge a few times in ammo testing... I TOLD YOU IT WASNT ME ! Lol I will have to read the rules and go do an official 50 yard challenge target.

I also think the Midas + Could have done better, as I sighted the gun in with that. 5 shots... Then started printing groups. So I was still getting used to the new rifle and that .650 lb trigger lmao

Here we go.

1. SK standard 5 Group Average .267 Smallest Group .170 Largest Group .422 Spread Difference of .254 (I did shoot a 6th group, that would have put this second. As seen on the target)
2. SK High Velocity 5 Group Average .275 Smallest Group .139 Largest group .423 Spread Difference of .284
3. SK Match 5 Group Average .348 Smallest Group .091 Largest Group .478 Spread Difference of .387
4. Lapua Midas+ 5 Group Average .449 Smallest Group .401 Largest Group .521 Spread Difference of .072
5. Eley Team 5 Group Average .455 Smallest Group .337 Largest Group .551 Spread Difference of .214
6. Sk Sport Biath 4 Group Average .457 Smallest Group .268 Largest Group .677 Spread Difference of .409

SK Standard best 5 group average of .267
SK HV did surprisingly well!
SK match had the best 5 shot group of the day at .091
Midas+ Was the most consistent of the day with a spread of only .072 from the smallest to largest group.
SK sport had the worst spread of the day with .409 from smallest to largest.

Most certainly am, now to chew through the rest of the "test ammo" and do a proper 50 yard challenge target.

I think you have higher priorities....like testing CCI Blazer. :) Actually, I'd be very interested in seeing Blazer, but also CCI SV. Curious about how the garden-variety stuff shoots...that is...if that rifle will agree to it! :)

Nice shooting CK!

lmao! Thanks, ill grab some blazer and CCI tomorrow for you and try it out if the weather is nice... The SK High velocity did very well!

Well well, isn't that more like how an Anschütz should shoot? Good stuff bud, you may find the groups and consistency tightening up as you get a brick or so fired down the tube. You'll be sure to soon shoot some of your personal best targets. w:h:

Right!? A .091 is my best group in my life so far...

I have to give a huge shout out to NORDIC MARKSMAN for doing right by me and making me a happy customer! I Proudly have their sticker on the back of my truck!
