I'm looking to add another 22 to my collection. I currently have a cz 452 with timney trigger but want something better. Anshutz has quite producing the LH 54 sporter so I am thinking of the LH 1727 fortner. This is going to be used primarily for gophers. Does anyone have experience using this rifle with hollow points? I had an older 64 RH that did not shoot hollow points as well as the cz. I guess the other option is the LH cooper M57. Does anyone have actual experience using these rifles as hunting rifles for gophers etc.

If you are considering a top-end rifle like a Fortner action Anschutz, to do it justice you should shoot the best ammo you can afford. Eley and SK both make high velocity hollow point ammunition. The combination of Anschutz and Eley or SK high velocity hollow point ammo would be as good as you can get with such .22LR projectiles.

ELEY High Vel 22LR ammo is great! Grouped very well in my CZ and did a number on the small game... Very slick looking with all black... Black shell, black hallow point bullet... I like...

Beware.
Anschutz have match chambers and you can ruin it by using certain bullets.

" Unfortunately, this makes shooting the Velocitor in a premium German sporting rifle, like the Anschutz, not possible. That is unless you re-chamber the rifle or install a custom barrel. "

I recommend the sk high velocity hp. They are very accurate out of most guns. I use them on gophers out of a modded 10/22. They kill very well and are shockingly accurate and consistent.

With my Anschutz 1416, when shooting the Federal Champion bulk HV rounds, I was getting around 1.5" groups at 50yds, sometimes worse. Probably good enough for gophers? Using SK+ reduced the groups to between 0.5-1." I've never used anything worse than SK Magazine in my 1827f though. My guess is that the Federal bulk would give similar groups as in the 1416.

Go with branded 50 rd boxes.... the 'bulk packs is where a lot of the 'b' quality .22 ammo goes... (loads are all over the map, bent rounds, bullets out of spec, etc etc)

'bulk packs' are terrible chit.

CCI Velocitors (and Stingers) are not recommended for rifles like Anschutz. Read the article in the link provided by P9S. It's written by Steve Boelter, who knows something about Anschutz.
0064 Quick Shok's fit match chambers, and are same velocity as Stinger.
If HV ammo is a must, why anyone would prefer to use CCI hyper velocity ammo over SK and Eley HV in an Anschutz is curious.
Any Anschutz shooters who haven't read the article referred to by P9S have done themselves a disservice. Its author, Steve Boelter, is president of Anschutz North America, and is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable people on this side of the Atlantic about Anschutz products and rimfire shooting.

It's not a velocity issue. The site linked by P9s has an article on the Stinger as well, but the photos are more telling - especially on how the driving bands sit further forward than a standard .22:

Stinger next to a standard CCI Green Tag .22 round, Stinger case next to a standard CCI Green Tag .22 case.

For people who want the ultra high velocity, 0064 quick shoks are the same velocity as Stingers. But the profile is a standard .22. Buy a box and check it out.

OP, or buy the 1727 F in 17 hmr. Actually I like the 22lr with the 16 inch barrel. its a beauty. buy a fortner actioned Annie you won't ever regret it.

I have an older annie 1700 sporter and have shot thousands of rounds of Winchester Power Points and velocitors out of it at gophers and have not experienced any degradation in accuracy...I purchased the gun used in the 90's and using lapua dominator was able to print 5 shot groups at 100 metres that averaged .70 of an inch. As of three weeks ago it will still print groups of the same size...At 50 yards, using winnie power points it will place them in a group of around .50", velocitors were about .75-.90...I have also used regular ol' Winchester Wildcat (white box) and they are very accurate out of my gun, around .50 or sometimes less at 50 yards, these are my go to grouse round.

I also have shot gophers with my 54 match, using match ammo and it was a hoot...Range gopher, dial scope, place crosshair on head, send bullet on its way...About half way through its flight, through good optics, you can see the bullet, watch it arc into your target. I usually only engaged targets beyond 75 yards as i deemed anything inside of that range 'too easy'...!!! YMMV

Obviously good, consistent ammo is one of the keys to top accuracy... pair a good rifle, good barrel, good trigger and good ammo, and you "may" have a winning combo... occasionally you might luck out in compromising one or two of the factors and still find a rig with excellent accuracy. If you are compromising on the "ammo factor," my best luck from Annies has come with CCI SV, SK St.+, and CCI Mini-Mag 36 HP's.
