Hello group.
I tried to research this Anschutz model and I'm not coming up with it clear identification.
Has the two digit stamp 65 so that of course means 1965 and I'm seeing that there's a 1450 and a 1416 and a model 54 it for that year. But I do not see this rifle being any of those.
Any help would be appreciated please.

Glenn (Grauhanen) will chime in and inform you as to exactly what your rifle is!! He is the Anschutz encyclopedia. With quality ammo I’d bet it will shoot tiny little clusters.

I'm scratching my head a little on this particular rifle. It's a 64 action repeater. It stock has checkering and appears to be walnut. Unexpectedly it has a front sight more typical of a target rifle than a sporter model. Unfortunately, we don't have a view of the left side of the butt stock. Does it have a cheek piece?

Without a little more information I can't be sure, but I'm tempted to say it's a 1416 or a CIL Anschutz 310 (can't see the stampings) with the original front sight replaced. Of course it might well be what some call a "bitsa" -- a rifle with bits of this model and bits of that. If the rear butt stock has a cheekpiece, the stock may well be from a 1416/CIL Anschutz 310.

The rear sight (shown separately by the OP) may be the one shown below.

That particular Anschutz is a 64 action, as opposed to a 54 that has a wing style safety.
It certainly looks like a 1416.

The walnut stocked 64 action repeater with a butt stock having the cheek piece certainly makes it look like a 1416 (same as a CIL Anschutz 310). Only the front sight on the rifle in question seems out of the ordinary.

The 1416 came with a front sight with a hood, mounted on a ramp. (See the picture of this older 1416, below to illustrate.)

the action reflects the model not the front sight that sight was changed out just because he was told it was new and factory that does not necessarily hold true
also i'm thinking a cil 310 they had the manufactures name on the receiver

Is the dip in the barrel typical for this model?

If I understand what you're referring to, that "dip" was on the barrels on some rifles, perhaps depending on when they were produced or perhaps depending on for which particular model Anschutz originally produced the barrel. The dip was there to help accommodate adjusting the particular rear sight on that barrel.

Some CIL Anschutz 310 rifles had it, some did not. I had one that had it (see image below). Other images as well as those produced by CIL suggest there were rifles without the dip. In any case, the rear sights were not always the same over the years.

cjp250, I was just being cheeky.
Sometimes the path of least resistance is a difficult journey (no pics) and sometimes the plan comes together when the knowledge kicks in.
Good Job to the detectives in the crowd !
And Tight Groups with that CIL310 !
