I did some testing at the range this morning with my Anschutz MPR .22LR . 50 yards , bipod , no find flags , very slight drizzle . 5 shot groups . Bore was treated with Anschutz Keramik Coat . These are the first 4 groups fired today . You can clearly see that as the Keramik lube wore away , and the bullet lube was applied , the groups improved . Bottom two groups are SK Rifle Match . Top two groups are SK Standard Plus .

Very nice shooting especially those 2 top targets. Not all MPR's shoot alike. Yours seems to be one to keep.

Is this thread suggesting the the bore on this Anschutz rifle needs lubricant to shoot well....? If so, it's the first time I've heard that.

No , the bore does not require lube to shoot well . But , it does clean up much better when it has been lubed prior to shooting . It also improved the first shot , cold bore "flier" . I guess my point was to illustrate the fact that as shots were fired , starting with a clean bore , it progressively got better . Nothing more , nothing less .

In the case of my rifle , most target ammo shoots well . I was out again this morning and it was pouring rain , 18C . I was not there to shoot groups but did a few anyway . CCI SV was shooting mid .300's and 15 year old , dried up Lapua Master L shot 3 , five shot groups that averaged .295 . I was just trying to get rid of it . The only ammo that does not shoot well is the low end RWS Target , and most of the lower cost Eley . I've tried Eley Match and it shot about as well as SK Standard Plus ( but 3x the cost ) . I've not tried Tennex or any of Lapua ammo above Center X . With Center X , I ( and my ability to read the wind ) are the limiting factors . My rifle is not a bench rest rifle as it's been set up as a tactical trainer ( bipod , mil scope ) . I've never shot it off a good bench rest .
