Anschutz MSR RX-22

When I first got my SR22 I had a lot of stovepipes and double feeds. Then I swapped out the extractor (got one on amazon) and after that, the 10 rd ruger mag NEVER stovepiped or jammed. The butler creek mags were still finicky for a bit but I read somewhere that they need to be "broken in" so I ran about 200 rds through one and it gradually had fewer and fewer problems then none at all.

For the HCR mags, I found that if I put those 'extra 5 rds' in, I have lots of problems but if I just go with the 20 rds from the stripper clips, zero problems.

I also have some 110 rd drums, the first load through each one had some stovepipes but after that, no issues.

One problem I found was that the little plastic piston thing that is supposed to hold onto the mags wasn't engaging properly and if the mag was in too far or not far enough, I got jams. I swapped that out for a metal piston with a stronger spring (I think it was a kidd kit?) and a longer mag release and the problem went away.

I've been shooting mostly CCI Blazers, it seems to really like those

Just fyi. the gun we are talking about is not the SR 22. That is a mechanically better designed gun (for cleaning and maintenance) and is made by Ruger. We are speaking of the Anschutz MSR Rx 22 which is made by ISSC with an Anschutz barrel and trigger.

Could you please prove the statement "Anschutz didn't make the rifle" with real evidence (not assumptions)?:nest: I have no interest in disputing your credibility, I'm just interested in this gun as I've seen up to here tons of very good reviews about it.

What i experienced..
- Barrel/trunnion was not tightened properly.
- Numerous FTF, FTE stovepipes with HV 22 ammo from day 1 (required numerous disassemblies to clean it which did not solve the problem. and then "fixed" with a firing spring mod)
- Cracked zinc bolt casing after spring mod was completed meaning that either the spring mod was responsible or the zinc bolt casing was substandard.

What I like
- Good ergonomics
- Fun to shoot
- Accurate
- Looks badass

What I Hate.
- Poor design (lots of cheap zinc parts except for the barrel)
- Difficult to take down and clean (gun with the most screws ever. manual does not recommend taking down gun past removing lower from upper, yet gun really requires it which means you have to be very careful not to strip/destroy the cheap screws that hold the bolt carrier together.)
- Very few people making mods/parts for it because it is not built simply and modular like for example a 10/22 pattern rifle.
- Most fixes as far as I am aware did not come from ISSC or Anschutz. They were user made experiments which ISSC later used.

I had my RX22 out in the field laying down gophers this weekend for about 5 hours. Didn't have one issue or stovepipe. I only have a red dot sight on it, but it was quarter size groups at about 30 yards off the deck railing. Only issue I have with it is weight. It's quite heavy for a 22 LR. I'm definitely going to purchase a sling for it. Other than that, it's a sweet rifle that I found easy to use and quite accurate.

Took mine out to the range today to have some fun and confirm the scope is still sighted well. Thought I'd share how it did.
Off a bench with a front support at 50 yards. 10 shot groups (hot barrel) with Regular American Eagle, and the middle group is with CCI Velocitors.
I gotta say, I'm pretty happy. I've had some issues with one mag, that I sorted out (one of the ISSC 22 round mags) and no more hick-ups since then. One soft primer strike out of about 200 rounds today.

I just picked up the RX22 "Precision" model. Straight out of the box and too the range.
Tried, CCI Velocitor, CCI Stinger, Remington Yellow Jacket, AE high velocity, and the good old bucket of bullets.
Everything ran flawless with the exception of the bucket of bullets. Those were double feeding and misfiring 1 in every 10 or so(either light primer strikes or not fully in battery, not sure).
This thing is amazing for a semi auto. At 50 yards off a half decent rest, Roughly 1 MOA groups of 10 shots with the Velocitors and yellow jackets (with the occasional flyer due to me). The others were closer to 2 MOA.
It's only one trip, but I think that with some oil and cleaning, the bucket o bullets might run just fine as well.
I think I found my new grouse, rabbit, and gopher gun :)

That group appears to be 2 MOA not 1 MOA... 1 MOA at 50 yards is 1/2" CTC... that looks to be approximately 1" CTC.

I've put close to 1000 rounds through mine since I got it (second hand). A case and a half of Winchester 333, a bunch of Winchesrer Dynapoint, and a bunch of Federal Automatch. Not a single issue this far.

Nice. The more I hear stories like this I'm convinced there's something really off with my rifle. Even after a complete teardown and clean i still get about 1 out of every 10 to 15 as a light strike. Perhaps its the trigger group or the firing pin.

Today I just ordered that precision model (stainless and skelentonized stock) from blue wolf firearms today! I'm excited. I heard there were quite a few improvements when anshultz joined with issc on these new rifles.

The only differences are the barrel and trigger. The rest is exactly the same.

I have tried many types of ammo. Golden bullets seemed to work best but still have many issues. Im using buttler creek 25rnd mags. I dont want to even bother with the 10 round ruger mags. This is supposed to be a fun gun and 25 rounds = fun. Also tried the hcr mags with same poor results.
Im just looking to hear about the rx22. I want a fun gun that is actually fun.

Try a inexpensive German ore Swedish ammo like GECO Semi-Auto or RWS orange or Yellow box---should solve your problems. Cheap ammo is cheap reliability. Switch to Factory Mags? We own one of these guns and find them to be very reliable and accurate to50m +
